Position Overview The Facilities Manager will be primarily responsible for the repair, maintenance, and daily operations of the Interactive and business office spaces, while also providing support to the Special Events Operations team. This position will lead facilities projects, including HVAC upgrades, and oversee the execution of outsourced projects, installations, and building communication This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Operations. As a hands-on role, the Facilities Manager will have overall responsibility for the safety and security of the team and staff, as well as for the necessary repairs for the Interactive and business office facilities on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. Responsibilities Perform daily repairs and maintenance at both The Interactive and the business office, including lighting, painting, cubicle reconfigurations, furniture moves, and minor facility repairs. Operate and maintain critical building systems: HVAC, BMS, lighting, electrical, plumbing, water treatment, compressed air/vacuum systems, and structural systems. Oversee maintenance scheduling, work order systems, spare parts inventory, annual inspections, and facilities-related projects. Manage vendor relationships and contracted facility services, including janitorial, elevator and escalator maintenance, fire suppression systems, and lift equipment servicing. Coordinate with city departments and other stakeholders on permitting, inspections, and joint projects impacting The Tech Interactive. Assess and prioritize maintenance needs in collaboration with departmental leaders, determining when to execute in-house work vs. outsourcing. Source, hire, onboard, and manage staff, vendors, and contractors for repair and project work, serving as the primary point of contact. Provide facilities support for other departments, including acting as backup when needed. Serve as the first responder in accordance with The Tech’s emergency response protocols, available across scheduled shifts. Manage and review facilities budgets, monitor project and operational costs, and utilize software tools for tracking and reporting. Maintain and operate company vehicles used for facilities-related activities. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Requirements and Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with various stakeholders, including employees, contractors, and vendors. Identifying and resolving issues related to building operations and maintenance management systems. As well as providing excellent service to occupants of the facility and their needs. Associates Degree or higher in facilities management, business administration, or a related field. 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management or a related field. Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing a team. Strong project management and ability to prioritize and scale projects and delegate tasks. Strong working knowledge of large commercial HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety systems and protocols. Proficiency in the use and maintenance of standard building hardware, fixtures, and power tools. Ability to interpret, document, and implement OSHA regulations, ensuring compliance with building codes and safety standards. Developing and controlling budgets, managing costs, and ensuring financial efficiency. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across departments and with external partners. Experience with scissor lifts; ability to obtain or maintain certification required. Working Conditions, Schedule, and Additional Requirements This position works primarily on-site with limited remote work flexibility. This may include after-hours and weekends. Ability to safely carry out daily duties, including lifting up to 75 pounds, bending, climbing, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Must possess a valid CA Driver's license and maintain a clean driving record. Ability to be covered by The Tech’s auto insurance based on driving record. This position requires driving to and from job sites as part of regular duties. Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
