Who is conducting the study, and what is it about? Dr. Joshua Gowin, PhD, a neuroscientist and director of Brain Alcohol Research Laboratory at the Department of Radiology of University of Colorado Anschutz medical Campus and his research team are recruiting participants for a study to examine how cannabis consumption affects the Alcohol consumption, and how both substances impact the brain pattern and behavior. Who can join this study? You can participate in this study if you are an adult (age 21-40) who drinks alcohol and use cannabis regularly and have the experience of using them at the same time. Why should I join this study? This study serves to benefit the public by increasing our understanding of how alcohol and cannabis use impact the brain pattern and behavior. What will I be asked to do? The study includes three visits. The first visit is called baseline visit and it will be over the zoom. In this visit we will go over the consent form and the study details with you. After you sign the consent form, we will send a W-9 form to you for the compensation you will receive. Then you will have a psychiatrist visit with our team psychiatrist to evaluate your substance use condition and then you will fill out more questionnaires with us. If you were eligible to be enrolled in the study, you will attend two in-person visits to our lab where you will consume THC drug on one study visit and placebo on another one. You will have an MRI session, two blood draw sand you will be offered alcohol to drink. How do I join this study?
