Job Description – Live-In Chef, Light Housekeeper & Companion Location: Manhattan, NY Compensation: $115,000 annually + Housing provided Benefits: Healthcare reimbursement Schedule: 5 days per week (flexible, including occasional weekends) Overview A former Fortune 500 CEO seeks an experienced and health-conscious Live-In Chef with additional light housekeeping and companion/assistance duties. The primary focus of this role is preparing nutritious, high-quality meals and providing white-glove food and beverage service. Secondary responsibilities include light housekeeping, daily assistance with simple tasks, and companionship. The ideal candidate is polished, discreet, and service-oriented, with prior private household experience for ultra-high-net-worth families and a strong understanding of NYC fine dining standards. Key Responsibilities Culinary & Food Service (Primary) Plan and prepare fresh, health-focused meals (salads, poached dishes, soups, light entrées) tailored to employer preferences. Present and plate meals to fine-dining standards; provide white-glove service when required. Prepare and serve beverages to guests with discretion and elegance. Ensure kitchen cleanliness and organization after each meal when housekeepers are not present. Maintain knowledge of seasonal ingredients, dietary considerations, and healthy cooking techniques. Companion & Assistance Provide day-to-day support, including assisting employer when rising from chairs or bed. Offer companionship and conversational support in a respectful, engaging manner. Assist with simple daily routines such as turndown service (making bed, preparing room for evening). Be present and attentive, ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity at all times. Light Housekeeping (Secondary) Perform light housekeeping as needed in the absence of full-time staff (bed-making, bathroom tidying, light laundry). Maintain a polished, organized environment to UHNW household standards. Support seamless household operations in coordination with other staff members. Professional Expectations Prior experience serving in ultra-high-net-worth households is required. Strong knowledge of New York City fine dining etiquette and service standards. Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and respect at all times. Present a polished and well-groomed appearance; follow hygiene and uniform guidelines. Adapt calmly to a direct management style and high-expectation environment. Communicate clearly and respectfully in English. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Schedule & Availability Core schedule: 5 days per week, with flexibility to cover weekends when other staff are off. Travel and schedule adjustments may occur; flexibility is essential. Employer spends extended periods outside NYC during summer; role requires adaptability to changing household rhythms. Qualifications Professional culinary training preferred (culinary school graduates encouraged). Mandatory: Prior experience working in an ultra-high-net-worth household. Mandatory: Familiarity with NYC fine dining service expectations and white-glove standards. Prior private household or luxury hospitality experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of health-focused cooking and dietary practices. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills. Compassionate, reliable, and discreet with strong interpersonal skills. ABOUT THE POSITION This full-time, temporary, limited duration position is anticipated to last through December 19, 2025. This position’s job duties include planning, preparing, and executing meal production, inventory management, and executing menu and recipe standards. This position will work closely with culinary staff and FareStart students and train them in basic food preparation skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: - Assist in day-to-day operation of the kitchen, coordinate food production schedules, and ensure the highest level of food quality, taste, and presentation. - Participate in food preparation, produce food of consistently high quality, taste, and presentation and expedite during peak meal periods as needed. - Control food costs by utilizing the proper methods of food preparation, handling, and storage. - Ensure all kitchen employees, students, and volunteers consistently adhere to uniform, grooming, and appearance standards. - In conjunction with management maintain goals for the kitchen, anticipate and resolve problems concerning all facets of the kitchen, anticipate trends, and enact approved profit-oriented and cost saving ideas/activities. - Establish and require strict adherence to health department, sanitation, and food handling guidelines. - Ensure adherence to recipes and product specifications, and train students on new menus. - Maintain effective communication and working relationship with the kitchen and program staff, be responsive to staff suggestions and concerns, and work to resolve problems. - Assist with completion of daily food orders based upon projected levels of business. - Ensure adherence to all food and kitchen safety standards in production, storage, and dishwashing areas. - Provide hands-on, direct training with students on core kitchen competencies. - Perform other duties as assigned.
