⛪Amateur Organist Wanted at Historic Traditional Catholic Oratory (north beach / telegraph hill)

addressPier 45, San Francisco, CA 94133, USA

Description

An amateur organist is wanted to play for St. John's Oratory (founded 1992) at the historic Fishermen's & Seamen's Memorial Chapel, Pier 45, Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco on the Catherine Baccari Memorial Organ, which is a Rodgers two-manual vintage church organ. Although no pay is involved, this is an opportunity to play at 9:30 a.m. Sundays primarily the best early music that has been written, from Gregorian Chant to Sacred Polyphony. You will have the opportunity to learn and play the classical chant hymns and accompaniments for the Traditional Catholic Latin Divine Office and the immemorial Traditional Latin Mass, as well as the best of polyphonic Renaissance and baroque Latin hymns. Advanced skill is NOT required. If you can read music and play basic hymns and chords well, you should be able to play the level of music needed. A decent home pianist should be able to play what is needed, even without the pedals. We are a small, friendly congregation at the Oratory. No pressure. No auditions. You do not have to be Catholic.
