The Estimator generates budgets, estimates and proposals with the understanding of the constructability, means and methods, logistics, schedule, risk, and profitability of each project. Must have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, and engineering principles with a wide variety of project types and be capable of estimating hard bid, negotiated and conceptual projects. \r\n Supervisory responsibility for Project Engineer(s), Assistant Project Manager(s), and Construction Intern assigned to contract(s) and/or work orders.\r\n Create work proposals.\r\n Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.\r\n Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.\r\n Maintain files of working documents as back up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.\r\n Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.\r\n Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man hour figures.\r\n Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.\r\n Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.\r\n Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to bid/project as assigned.\r\n Maintain files of working documents as back up for estimates figures.\r\n Interact with owner, A/E, and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.\r\n Negotiate financial disputes and change orders with owners.\r\n Administrative point of contact for the owner\r\n Understand details of project scope of work\r\n Create and maintain project cost reports.\r\n Document and negotiate changes that may affect project completion or contract costs with subcontractors and owners.\r\n Develop field quality assurance and quality control plan with Superintendent.\r\n Collaboration of project safety plan with Superintendent(s)\r\n Responsible for managing MBE/WBE subcontracting requirements.\r\n Responsible for EEO/Affirmative action contract requirements\r\n Must report to various work locations as assigned.\r\n \r\nRequirements\r\n Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or another degree related to the built environment. \r\n 5-8 years estimating, cost control, project management, and/or engineering experience in construction environment. \r\n Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essential.\r\n \r\nF.H.
