





WELDER FITTER (Stockton) Compensation: 401K, paid Holiday, vacation and medical Employment type: full-time Job title: Welder - Fitter We are accepting resumes to fill an immediate need for Welders/Fitters for structural steel and miscellaneous metals (carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum welding). MUST BE CERTIFIED IN FCAW DUAL SHIELD if a welder. Stainless and Aluminum Certs a plus The job is a full-time hourly position with paid holidays and medical benefits. Wages are negotiable but based upon your experience and skill set. Welder/fitter Major Job Functions and Responsibilities: - Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools. - Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of the material. - Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. - Lay-out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies before assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. - Tack-weld fitted parts together. - Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. - Lay-out and examine metal stock or work-pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met. - Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers. - Examine work-pieces for defects and measure work-pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with shop drawings and specifications. - Verify conformance of work-pieces to shop drawings and specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes. - Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications. - Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting. - Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding. - Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences. - Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes. - Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components. - Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits. - Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify production manager. Position Qualification Minimums: - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus and their applications. - Read, write and communicate in English.
