Qualifications Qualifications: • CDL Class A required • Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required • 1 year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years required, or 2 years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 5 years • 3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents • Follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job • In order to be compliant with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)), this role requires English language proficiency. • Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required • This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. The Mechanic is to maintain our high standards of safety and extend the life of our assets. Requirements & Essential Functions Inspect, diagnose, rebuild, replace, or repair vehicle parts such as engines, brakes, transmission lines, electrical assemblies, and accessories. Tighten bolts and screws and reassemble equipment and vehicle's repaired, ensuring they are safe and in good working condition. Drive vehicle to test brakes or align wheels. Perform tune-ups, oil changes, and other routine preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, replacing common parts and making adjustments. Lookup and understand the manufacturer's specifications, technical bulletins, service or repair manuals. Follow vehicle repair procedures. Report discrepancies and safety hazards on all vehicles and properties on the appropriate forms. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work independently over long periods of time and in groups within the scope of established rules and regulations. Ability to apply knowledge in multiple areas of vehicle repair. Ability to drive a trolley or conch train in a safe, competent manner on busy public streets and company property. Ability to determine the type of tool and equipment needed to do the job. Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
