D1 Los Angeles - San Diego - Los Angeles Departing from Los Angeles in the early morning, we head south on I-5 under the rising sun, beginning our coastal exploration. After approximately two hours, we arrive in San Diego. First stop: a relaxing walk through the historic 【Old Town San Diego】 (30 minutes). Known as "the birthplace of California," this site marks the origin of the city’s history. Preserved 19th-century buildings reflect Mexican and early Californian architecture, making it one of California’s earliest Spanish colonial settlements. Stepping into Old Town feels like traveling back to the early 1800s Southwest borderlands—adobe walls, red-tiled roofs, vintage carriages, and street performers create an immersive historical atmosphere. Alleyways are lined with handicrafts, pottery, and traditional Mexican textiles; nearby restaurants emit the tempting aromas of tortillas and spices. Itinerary Overview: Los Angeles - Old Town San Diego (30 min) - Balboa Park (120 min) - USS Midway Museum (60 min, admission not included) - La Jolla Cove (40 min) - Los Angeles ⛪ Hotel: DoubleTree by Hilton Monrovia - Pasadena Area or DoubleTree by Hilton Rosemead or Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel or DoubleTree by Hilton Pomona or Hilton Los Angeles/San Gabriel or equivalent 🍯 Meals: Breakfast: at own expense; Lunch: at own expense; Dinner: at own expense 📌【Balboa Park】(120 minutes) San Diego’s most iconic urban park blends natural scenery with cultural artistry. Featuring Spanish Revival-style architecture, beautifully landscaped gardens, and multiple museums—including art, natural history, and aerospace—the park offers a rich cultural experience. Strolling along El Prado Avenue, you’ll encounter classical fountains, plant conservatories, and rose gardens, creating a perfect harmony between art and nature. 📌【San Diego Harbor, distant view of the aircraft carrier】(60 minutes, boarding not included) The USS Midway, a decommissioned American aircraft carrier, is now permanently docked in San Diego Harbor as a maritime museum. Having served in the Vietnam War and Gulf War, it ranks among the longest-serving carriers in U.S. Navy history. Visitors may purchase tickets to board and explore areas such as the flight deck, bridge, and combat information center, gaining close-up insight into carrier aircraft, pilot life, and naval history—an ideal attraction for military enthusiasts and families. Enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine by the harbor or in La Jolla before heading to the picturesque 【La Jolla Cove】 (40 minutes). One of San Diego’s most beautiful coastlines, La Jolla Cove is famed for its crystal-clear waters, rocky cliffs, and lounging sea lions. It’s a prime spot for snorkeling, diving, sunset viewing, and photography. Walking along the cove trail, you can observe sea lions, seagulls, and various marine life up close. With gentle sea breezes and waves crashing ashore, it’s an ideal place to unwind and reconnect with nature. In the late afternoon, we begin our return journey to Los Angeles, concluding this fulfilling and relaxing day trip to San Diego. D2 Los Angeles - Seven Magic Mountains - Las Vegas Starting our day in the "City of Angels" under the morning sun, we begin our exciting journey north on Highway 15. We pass through the 【San Bernardino Forest】 and enter North America’s largest desert—the 【Mojave Desert】—offering a unique landscape experience. Our first highlight: the viral sensation 【Seven Magic Mountains】 (approx. 30 minutes). Located in the remote Nevada desert just outside Las Vegas, these seven towering rock columns painted in vibrant colors rise dramatically from the barren ground. Standing 30 feet tall, these rainbow-hued monoliths inject playful energy into the otherwise monotonous desert—a must-stop for memorable photos. In the afternoon, we arrive at the desert entertainment paradise: 【Las Vegas】. All homes and structures in present-day Seligman were physically moved brick-by-brick from their original location over a mile southwest—including the famous Santa Fe Railway 'Harvey House - Road House.' Thus, Seligman earned the nickname: 'America’s Most Mobile Town.' It also inspired Disney’s animated film Cars. Walking through the town, you’ll see classic Route 66 markers, anthropomorphic cars, and preserved Western frontier architecture—like stepping into a time capsule to 1920s–1930s America. Next, we visit one of the ten best photography locations in the U.S., as selected by National Geographic: The 【Southeast Twin Canyons of the Grand Canyon National Park】—one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World! No matter how many mountains or rivers you’ve seen, the Grand Canyon feels otherworldly—perhaps belonging to another planet altogether. 【Desert View Point】(East Rim)—This watchtower offers a unique perspective of the eastern Grand Canyon. Looking northeast, you can glimpse the Colorado River transitioning from the narrow Marble Canyon into the broader expanse of the main canyon. 【Mather Point】(South Rim)—Another prime viewpoint offering panoramic vistas. Dense aquatic plants in the riverbed cause sunlight to refract into an eerie green glow. Here, the Colorado River makes a dramatic 360-degree turn through red-rock canyons, forming a horseshoe-shaped curve—hence the name.
