AOC said: "We defeated the Old Guard" What does that mean? The Democratic party has been in a civil war with itself for the last 10 years. The standard 'moderate' Democrats vs. the Marxist/Socialists. The Marxists are biting the hand that helped them: Up until 1990 it was not legal for a Muslim to hold political office. It was the 'Old guard' Democrats who made it legal. 35 years later, they're probably regretting that decision. Regardless , it looks like the Marxists are going to be taking over the Democratic party. The moderates will now be pushed out and the Democratic party will become the new American Socialist party. This has been coming on for a long time: Back in the 1960's, there actually used to be an American Socialist party, and they ran a presidential candidate every four years. The American Socialist party stopped running presidential candidates, when they realized that the Democrats were adopting all of their policies. Zohran Mamdani's own mother said this about her son: "He is not American at all". So there you go. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.
