The families we serve are in crisis and need support keeping their children safe right now. At Oasis Ascent, we provide thorough assessment, around-the-clock secure care, and intensive support to young men and women. We are a safe setting for adolescents to stabilize while they and their families meet with licensed clinicians to determine the underlying causes of distress and what next steps make the most sense for their needs. Our students struggle with emotional, behavioral, and substance use disorders. As a Shift Supervisor, you will create a safe and supervised environment for our students to heal and grow in. Through working with Oasis Ascent, you will gain experience in the behavioral and mental health fields and in working with teenagers. And most importantly, you will help heal families and save lives through the relationships you form. The ability to develop and maintain authentic, appropriate relationships with clear, healthy boundaries is essential to your success not just with our students but as the leader of your shift as well. You must be dedicated to keeping your shift and students safe at all times and throughout all scheduled activities. As part an integrated care approach, you will work collaboratively across departments to ensure we are providing consistent, effective, and appropriate care to our students and their families. Under the supervision of the House Manager, an employee in this position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the IRA and for ensuring continuous active treatment. The Assistant House Manager directs the staff and services within the IRA; maintains a home-like environment; performs related work as requested in the absence of the House Manager. Illustrative Examples of Work Confers with the House Manager regarding the supervision of the IRA. Participates in the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of direct care staff. Maintains accurate accounts of individuals’ account ledgers and personal accounts. As required, and with specialized training, drives the Agency vehicle for the purpose of program individual transportation, shopping, or other related IRA business. Prepares reports and other informational materials as needed and ensures completion of deficiencies. Assists staff with maladaptive behaviors and emergency care (with specific training). Ensures that the IRA is maintained in a neat, clean, and organized manner and is attractively decorated. Ensures that safety standards are adhered to. Brings to the attention of the nurse, clinical staff, and House Manager and/or Assistant IRA Director any changes in the individuals medical conditions or other pertinent information as needed. Assists individuals with toileting; may include changing diapers, showering/bathing, and maintaining of personal hygiene; and transferring/lifting. Completes assessments as required. Participates in meetings as required. Maintains an appropriate wardrobe for each individual. Ensures that individuals are provided with continuous active programming. Ensures that each individual is provided with privacy during treatment and care of personal needs. Ensures opportunities for individuals’ choice and self management to the extent possible. Ensures that activities are age appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Responsibilities: - Utilize Lucas Mill Dedicated Slabber DSM23 and chainsaw to cut salvaged tree logs into slabs - De-nail salvaged lumber. - Use proper stacking and drying techniques to prevent damage to milled slabs. - Ensure proper documentation and inventory of milled slabs and processed lumber. - Work with salvaged tree logs and prepare them for reuse by learning the proper techniques for milling, stacking, and drying - Develop our Tree Reclamation Program. - Facilitate and coordinate transport of milled slabs and processed lumber to Redistribution Center. - Maintain a clean and organized yard - Maintain tools and equipment, including sharpening saw blades - Manage and direct crew members - Research, set up, and ongoing management of solar kiln. - Delegate tasks to crew members and keep crew motivated and on task - Outreach to arborists, landscapers, and City & County/State departments for tree donations. - Work in collaboration with Redistribution staff. - Ensure all duties of material processing department are being done when not milling or performing outreach. - Participate in the recruitment of crew members and manage training for all new hires. Qualifications: - Valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract. - Some construction background and experience a plus, but will train on use of chainsaw and mill - Experience using hand and power tools - Ability to work in all outdoor elements and conditions - Attention to detail and safety and excellent communication skills - Commitment to reducing waste and providing the community with an affordable building material resource - Ability to work as a collaborative team member - Enjoy physically demanding work, including but not limited to, the ability to perform repetitive tasks and conduct repeated movement like bending, standing, walking, prying, stooping, carrying, and other related tasks. - Ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed and soled boots, gloves, ear protection, and respirator when required Physical requirements: - Position requires manipulating 60+lbs throughout the work day by utilizing tools and proper equipment. - Ability to perform intense and repetitive physical work including bending, lifting & moving material, standing, walking.
