🎙️ Music Producer Internship – Red Velvet Studios (Mid-City, Los Angeles) Location: Mid-City, Los Angeles Type: In-Person, Part-Time (2–3 sessions per week) Availability: Must be available for at least 1–2 scheduled sessions per week Session Timing: Typically Monday–Friday between 1 PM and 10 PM Hours: ~6–10 hours per week We’re generally looking for interns between the ages of 16 - 27, as this age range tends to align best with the goals of our program—but we’re open to making exceptions for an exceptional applicant with strong passion, talent, or experience. Unpaid (First 3 Months) → Potential for Paid Projects About Red Velvet Studios Red Velvet Studios is a professional home studio located in Mid-City, Los Angeles. While we’re not a large commercial facility, we provide a high-quality, creative space dedicated to music production, artist development, and music business education. We work primarily with private independent artists as our clients, helping them develop their sound, brand, and careers. This internship is ideal for someone looking to learn by doing and gain real hands-on experience in a working studio. The studio is run by Joseph Brooks, a working music producer with years of experience helping artists grow. Joseph was mentored by Grammy-nominated producer !llmind (credits include Drake, J. Cole, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, and more) and shares that knowledge directly with interns and his online music community. We work in genres such as Pop, Indie, Rock, Synthpop, Disco Pop, R&B, Funk, and more. We also collaborate with independent artists worldwide via platforms like Groover, offering professional feedback and playlist curation. Main DAWs: Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Reason Who We're Looking For We’re seeking someone who is: ✅ Hungry to Learn – You’re eager to gain hands-on experience in a real studio ✅ Ready for Experience – Perfect for students, recent grads, or anyone trying to break into the music industry ✅ Reliable & Consistent – You communicate clearly, show up on time, and follow through ✅ Flexible – You’re not juggling a packed full-time schedule ✅ Comfortable on Camera – You may appear in behind-the-scenes content, vlogs, or podcast clips ✅ Willing to Help With Videography – You must be comfortable assisting with iPhone or DSLR videography/photography (equipment provided) to help capture in-studio content ✅ Local to Los Angeles – This is for applicants who can commute easily to Mid-City ✅ Passionate & Open-Minded – You’re ready to assist, observe, and contribute in a creative environment Internship Responsibilities & Expectations This internship is a hands-on learning experience designed to help you grow your skills in a real-world, professional environment. While you’ll gain knowledge by observing, the most valuable experience comes from doing. You’ll be given tasks that are meant to help you learn, build confidence, and develop a strong work ethic. When you're assigned a task, it’s not just a to-do—it’s an opportunity to show that you can be professional, take direction, and follow through. Prompt communication is also expected. If I call, text, or email you, I need a timely response—just as you would in any job setting. How you handle these responsibilities shows whether you’re ready for more opportunities. If you demonstrate consistency, dependability, and a positive attitude, you’ll grow and advance. But if you're unable to follow through, you won’t be moved forward in the program, and your internship may be ended. This is your chance to take initiative, gain real experience, and prove you're ready for what comes next. 📌 This is not a remote role and not suitable for people with inflexible schedules. What You'll Gain 🎶 Hands-on experience in a real music production environment 🎶 Exposure to recording, vocal production, and artist development 🎶 Involvement in content creation and behind-the-scenes production 🎶 Studio business insight — sit in on artist consultations and label calls 🎶 Support in organizing sessions and prepping DAW files 🎶 Opportunity to assist with podcasts, studio vlogs, social content, and more 🎶 Learn about marketing, branding, and the modern independent music business You’ll experience both the creative and business sides of running a music studio. Compensation 📌 This internship is unpaid for the first 3 months 📌 If you complete the full 3 months, show reliability and alignment, paid project-based opportunities may follow 📌 This is a part-time opportunity — not a full-time job 📌 For the right person, this could grow into a larger ongoing role Time Commitment & Schedule ⏰ Interns are expected to attend 2–3 in-person sessions weekly, usually between 1 PM and 10 PM (Monday–Friday) 📆 Some weeks may only require 1 session, but you must be available for up to 3 🕒 Sessions typically run 4–6 hours, and you must stay the full duration ⚠️ Reliability is key. If you stop communicating, miss sessions, or can’t maintain the schedule, the internship will not continue. Tasks You May Assist With 🎧 Assisting with vocal sessions, production, and engineering 🎧 Session setup, breakdown, and DAW organization 🎧 Capturing studio content (video/photo) using iPhone or DSLR 🎧 Helping with studio vlogs, podcasts, and behind-the-scenes filming 🎧 Creating and organizing content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube 🎧 Participating in community engagement and music marketing 🎧 Sitting in on artist meetings, label calls, and development discussions If you don't use social media, you can instead send in a couple of photos or a video of yourself with your application. This does not require acting experience — just confidence, professionalism, and a willingness to contribute to the studio’s creative content. If you’re not open to appearing in content, this may not be the right fit. 📩 How to Apply To be considered, you must submit the following 📲 A public social media link (Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube), not just a link to a song. 🔗 A Linktree, Spotify, or portfolio showing your work (music, performances, videos, etc.) We require a link to your main public social media account. ⚠️ Applications with no links will not be considered. We need to see how you present yourself and if you’re content-ready. In order to apply email - submissions@redvelvetstudio.com Next Steps If you’re excited about music, eager to learn, and have the time and energy to commit, we’d love to connect. The next step will be a quick intro call or coffee meetup to see if it’s the right fit. Learn More 🌐 Website: redvelvetstudio.com 📸 Instagram: @redvelvetstudiosla
