Position: Material Handler/ Forklift Operator Location: Vernon, CA Schedule : Monday - Friday 2nd shift and 3rd shift Pay: $20 - $21 Material Handler Job Description Key Responsibilities: Loading and Unloading Materials: Transport materials and products to and from storage areas using forklifts (both stand-up and sit-down), pallet jacks, or cranes. Ensure items are safely loaded/unloaded and properly secured to prevent damage during transit. Inventory Control: Assist in maintaining accurate records of stock and inventory levels. Perform regular stock checks, monitor material levels, and report shortages or damages to supervisors. Material Organization: Sort, organize, and store materials in designated areas, ensuring that items are easily accessible. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to optimize workflow. Machine Operation: Operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts to move products efficiently across the warehouse or production floor. Perform routine checks and maintenance on forklifts and other equipment to ensure proper functioning. Safety Protocols: Follow all safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe working environment. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required, and adhere to workplace safety standards. Ensure compliance with forklift operation safety guidelines to avoid accidents or injuries. Communication: Collaborate with supervisors, team members, and other departments to ensure smooth material handling and logistics. Report any discrepancies in material handling, damaged goods, or inventory issues promptly. Skills and Qualifications: Forklift Experience (Stand-Up & Sit-Down): Must be experience to operate both stand-up and sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently. Minimum 1 ½ to 2 years experience. Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy materials, sometimes repetitively, and to operate heavy equipment for extended periods. Equipment Proficiency: Ability to use material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and hand trucks. Attention to Detail: Must be meticulous in tracking inventory and ensuring accurate material handling. Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks and keep materials orderly, ensuring efficient operations. Safety Awareness: In-depth knowledge of workplace safety procedures, including the safe handling of hazardous materials and operating heavy equipment. Communication: Clear and effective communication skills to interact with supervisors, team members, and other departments. Must pass E-Verify Work Environment: Works in warehouse or industrial settings, possibly including high-traffic areas with moving equipment. May work in climate-controlled or outdoor settings depending on the nature of the materials being handled. The role may involve shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, especially in fast-paced industries. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. plus Previous experience in material handling is preferred, particularly with forklifts. Forklift Experience (Stand-Up and Sit-Down) required. Certification can be obtained through employer-sponsored training or external programs.
