Boarding Kennel Technician (lafayette / orinda / moraga)
1108 Howard Hls Rd, Lafayette, CA 94549, USA
Waiterock Pet Ranch, Lafayette's original doggie daycare and pet boarding facility, is looking for a dedicated dog and cat lover to join our talented, fun, hard-working team of pet care professionals! As a member of our care team, you will be caring for dog lodgers and doggie day campers and providing them with everything they need to stay happy and healthy. We provide safe, fun outdoor exercise in our play yards, fresh food and water throughout the day, medications as needed, sparkling clean and disinfected campsites for resting and sleeping, special play sessions, baths. Do you have prior experience with a kennel and left because of the bad experience? Was that kennel in a warehouse that stank to high heaven and was like a prison exercise yard and you had to tackle dogs to break up fights and the owner kept allowing the problem dogs to come back? We're not that kennel. Did you leave because you worked with/for people who didn't care and were just there for money and you have better ethics than that? We're not that kennel. Did your co-workers show up late and were lazy and you felt that you should be getting their paycheck and you didn't like working with them? We're not that kennel. Was your prior kennel "cage free" and yet the dogs were stuck in crates/boxes at night and in the morning you shoved a food dish in on top of a big pile of poop? We're not that kennel. Did you suffer verbal abuse from your supervisors or clients? We're not that kennel and don't allow that behavior. Answer this ad and come by for a tour and see what we're about. At this time we are seeking a person to join our "A TEAM" to work in the kennel. This is a job that requires a certain decent level of physical fitness. It entails hosing dog runs inside and out, managing play yards, taking out the garbage, moping/sweeping and other tasks that are basically janitorial. This position also entails feeding dogs (setting up individual diets and medications ) administering medications and monitoring for health issues both pre-existing and developing during the stay. You must have dog experience to do this job - Everyone here is cross trained to work reception so that they may work in either area on an as needed basis. Basic computer skills, typing, and customer service are needed. This is a part time job, up to 30 hours a week with great potential for overtime or to work up to full-time. We are a small facility with a small staff and everyone digs in and helps each other to get the job done. Cross training gives us the flexibility to schedule our small staff for vacations, weekends off, holidays and busy season. Because we monitor pets for health issues you must have some pet care experience - veterinary work, dog shows, dog rescue, prior kennel experience, etc. Here are some other requirements for the position: *You need to drive! We are not near public transportation. Car and drivers license a must. *You must be able and willing to work some weekends and holidays. We provide exceptional care to our loved pet clients 365 days per year (even on Sundays, and yes, even on Christmas day), so if you are not able or are unwilling to meet this requirement, please do not apply. We don't expect you to work every holiday or weekend but some are needed. *Most shifts are 4- 8 hours long, some starting as early as 6:00 am and some ending as late as 7 pm. Ideal candidates are flexible. This is all a matter of scheduling so that everyone gets most of what they want. 😊 Great job for a student or somebody with PTSD from the veterinary field. Please contact us via email and we'll set up a time to talk on the phone. If you could please let us know a little about your prior experience and current situation that would be helpful. We'll respond immediately and do look forward to speaking with you and joining our team. Please reply to CL address and send a resume and/or statement of why you want to work here and what days and shifts you are able to work. If there are days you are UNABLE to work then state that, too.
