




Power Technician Company: Hoaglin Morrison Inc. Location: Coral Gables / Greater Miami Area Employment Type: Full-Time Overview Hoaglin Morrison Inc. is actively seeking experienced and safety-minded technicians to support the ongoing Florida Power & Light (FPL) Storm Secure Underground Power Conversion Program in Coral Gables / Greater Miami. Our team works in coordination with FPL crews to transition residential electrical service from overhead to underground. This position involves hands-on field work including trenching, conduit installation, transformer terminations, and meter conversions. Key Responsibilities • Perform underground electrical conversions for residential customers as part of the FPL program. • Coordinate with FPL crews during power-down and re-energization (“light-up”) events. • Safely trench and install conduit, wire, and service equipment per FPL and NEC standards. • Connect and disconnect secondary conductors within pad-mount transformers. • Perform meter can upgrades, riser conduit modifications, and wall penetrations as needed. • Use ladders, hand tools, and power tools for wire pulls, terminations, and conduit runs. • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to code requirements. • Document before/after photos, work order notes, and as-built conditions. • Maintain clean work areas and communicate progress with project supervisors daily. Qualifications • Prefer 2 years of experience in residential or commercial electrical work. • Familiarity with underground electrical systems, conduit installation, and terminations. • Ability to safely work around energized equipment and confined spaces. • Comfortable working outdoors, in trenches, and on ladders. • Valid Florida Driver’s License with clean driving record. • OSHA-10 or ability to obtain upon hire. • Familiarity with FPL standards and underground utility safety practices a plus. Physical Requirements • Lift up to 50 lbs; bend, kneel, and work in varying weather conditions. • Stand or walk for extended periods. • Use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, and protective footwear required. Compensation • Performance-Based Pay Structure: Technicians are paid per completed site with a base pay guarantee to ensure consistent income. • Earning Potential: High-performing technicians completing multiple sites daily can achieve above-average income levels ($70,000–$100,000+ annually possible). • Long-term work with steady schedule under multi-year FPL contract.
