Job Summary: As the Visual Supervisor, you will lead the visual storytelling and post-production efforts for this premium documentary. Reporting directly to the Director alone, you'll oversee a team of world-class artists and technicians to create immersive, high-impact visuals that captivate audiences. This role demands a blend of technical mastery, creative flair, and strong leadership to ensure the project's visuals align with its ambitious scope. This is a full-time, project-based position with potential for extension, based in Los Angeles, CA or remote with travel as needed. Key Responsibilities: Visual Leadership and Strategy: Develop and execute the overall visual style, including concept art, storyboards, and visual effects pipelines to enhance the documentary's narrative. Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of top-tier professionals in video editing, VFX, animation, and design; assign tasks, provide feedback, and ensure deadlines are met while fostering a collaborative environment. Post-Production Oversight: Supervise all aspects of video editing, color grading, and integration of 2D/3D elements to create seamless, polished sequences. Creative Execution: Produce high-quality concept art, motion graphics, and graphic designs that reflect the project's themes; collaborate with the director on visual innovations. Technical Implementation: Utilize tools like After Effects and Maya to prototype and refine VFX and 3D models; ensure technical feasibility and optimization for final output. Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with cinematographers, sound designers, and producers to integrate visuals with other elements of the film. Required Qualifications: Technical Proficiency: Expert-level skills in video editing, VFX, After Effects, Maya, 2D and 3D animation/modeling, motion graphics, and graphic design. Artistic Expertise: Proven track record as a highly proficient concept artist, with a portfolio demonstrating innovative visual concepts and storytelling through art. Leadership Experience: At least 5+ years managing teams of top-tier professionals in high-level video production, such as feature films, documentaries, or premium content for major networks/streaming platforms. Industry Experience: Demonstrated success in documentary or narrative filmmaking, with credits on high-profile projects involving complex visuals. Education: Bachelor's degree in Film, Animation, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
