Volunteer Opportunities Include: On-going Activities: Community Birthday Helper- 1 time a month on the first Tuesday at 3pm. Setup, serve cake and beverages, cleanup. Sing-along leader- Lead residents in a variety of songs. Movie Helper- Start movies, pop popcorn, serve beverages, clean up. Bingo Caller- Fill in when a caller is needed. Music Program- Play an instrument with or for the residents. Set up equipment for concerts and put away equipment. Spelling Bee- Set up, conduct spelling bee, and take down Flex Your Brain Puzzles- Only on the weekend, conduct the puzzle packet with residents. Communication- Create and pass out flyers and other announcements to residents. Reception Helper- Administrative support role, typically working in front office, responsible for tasks like answering phones, greeting visitors, making copies, scanning documents, marketing, and maintaining office supplies. One Time Events: One Time Special Events & Parties- Time and day vary with the event. Help with decorating, other setup, help residents who are unable to get refreshments, take down and clean up. Provide Travel Shows-Talk about your travels or scheduled activity. Beautification Projects- Involves improving the visual appearance and aesthetics of a community, often through projects like landscaping, green infrastructure, and community cleanups, aiming to create a more pleasant and livable environment. Teach a Class: Arts/Crafts Class- Can be 1 time or ongoing. Language- Introduce residents to a new language. University Lectures- Every Monday at 3pm. Setup chairs, play video and conduct the discussion group after.

Position Title: Direct Care Counselor FLSA Status: Non-exempt Department: Ke Kama Pono Supervisor: Program Director Primary Purpose: Provide direct care and supervision to youth according to the foundation’s policies and procedures, licensing and accreditation requirements. Essential Duties: • Supervise activities for residents that will increase their cultural awareness and enhance their self-esteem; • Work with the Lead Direct Care Counselor to oversee residents in their day to day routines in the house; • Assist in the delivery of services, and activities for the residents in the program; • Review and summarize miscellaneous reports and documents; • Prepare documents and reports as necessary. Other Duties: Other duties as assigned by Program Director or direct supervisor. Work Hours: • Sunday through Saturday, work hours vary depending on program needs or otherwise determined by the supervisor; • Position requires regular and predictable attendance; • Some events on evenings or weekends at various times. Working Conditions: • Office setting; • Travel in program and/or personal vehicle to and from program sites. Equipment Use: Program vehicle, computer and/or lap top, printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, office and/or work cell phone/Bluetooth, paper cutter, nametag maker, voice recorder, speaker system, video and camera equipment, microwave, ice machine, and stove. Minimum Qualification Requirements: • High school diploma, or equivalent, and experience working with youth required; • AA or BA degree in social work or related field preferred; • Must have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record; • Must participate in Child Abuse and Neglect, State criminal and FBI criminal clearances, and subsequently meet DHS standards regarding these clearances; • Must have current CPR/First Aid certification that will be updated annually; • Must have current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification that will be updated annually; • Must have current TB test completed that will be updated annually; • Must pass a physical examination requirement.

Utilize multiline phone system and Language Line phone service. Must be comfortable handling a variety of animals with a wide range of behavioral and medical needs, including the use of humane euthanasia.
