Chateau Cupertino Retirement Residence is an Independent Living Community for seniors, with a vibrant & close-knit atmosphere. We provide full services to our residents including, but not limited to; homestyle gourmet menus for each meal, weekly housekeeping, valet, personal laundry service and an extensive activity calendar! We're seeking for full time pastry cook/baker. Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities: Our kitchen prepares upwards to 3 meals a day for our senior residents and as the pastry cook/baker, you’ll be responsible for preparing desserts and baked goods for the meals. This will include, but not limited to, morning breads and muffins, fresh baked bread, dinner rolls, pies, cakes and any other assorted bakery items. In addition, the pastry cook/baker will assist in breakfast service by expediting orders and some light breakfast cooking such as eggs, pancakes, etc. Other duties will include, but not limited to, receiving and stock inventory and cost control, assisting prep cooks, cleaning cooking utensils and any other duties as requested. Attributes: • Must be able to read and follow recipes, create new items for service (creativity is a plus) or “work on the fly.” • Must be able to work independently as well as a team player • Must be dependable, have a positive attitude • Must be able to lift upwards to 50lbs • Quick Order Cooking skills is a plus. • Must be responsible in maintaining a clean workstation, labeling and storing food products • Self-Starter and able to multi-task. • Manage time and plan ahead for the week based upon menus Education and Experience • Culinary schooling with emphasis and/or Certification in Baking and Pastry • Must have worked in a multi-facet pastry/baking environment with a minimum experience of 3 years. • Must be able to speak, read and write English Hours: • 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with an hour lunch • Must be available to work one Sunday a month (our Sunday Brunch) • Must be available to work our holidays parties or special events
