We are searching for a qualified and creative pastry chef who loves to bake the very best guilty pleasures for our clients to consume. Urgently looking to fill this position with a creative and passionate experienced individual who will pay attention to detail. An individual who will take personal pride in their work and the capability to suggest new ideas for customizing a clients requests. A talented pastry chef with the ability to raise the caliber and presentation of any and all desserts. Must work well with our current pastry chef and other staff members. Must be able to complete tasks even under pressure in a very busy catering kitchen. Must carry a sense of urgency in order to meet different orders and schedules for clients. Must maintain a clean and organized work station. Punctuality is always important and a must in order to prepare, produce and send out the freshest breads and desserts. Must have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and always be respectful to the other coworkers in the kitchen. Operating hours are early mornings to midday shift. Approximately 25 to 35 hours per week. Duties and tasks include: Helping to create and construct desserts, including a variety of cookies, brownies, cupcakes, cornbreads, sheet cakes, puddings, biscuits. As well as themed styled desserts for holidays such as Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving. We are looking to hire for the position ASAP. $22.00 to $24.00 per hour to start D.O.E. General Responsibilities: - Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing the proper uniform. - Have thorough knowledge of menus and the preparation required according to hotel standards. - Comply with certification requirements as applicable to the position including Food Handlers Safety, etc. - Prepare food items according to guest orders of consistent quality following recipe cards, as well as production, portion, and presentation standards. - Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to prepare beyond estimated needs. - Maintain post on kitchen line as required during operating hours in order to prepare food to order maintaining the highest standards of efficiency, productivity, and quality. - Prepare food for Banquets as required following specifications of Banquet Event Orders. - Operate, maintain, and properly clean kitchen equipment, including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill. - Must have a good understanding of ingredients, products, and equipment. - Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. - Clean and maintain station and practice good safety and sanitation. - Assist with cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment. - Restock items as needed throughout the shift. - Practice safe work habits at all times to avoid possible injury to self or other associates.
