Description

Position Summary: Maintenance/General Labor Worker performs a variety of manual labor and basic maintenance tasks to support daily operations at the transfer station facility. This position assists with general upkeep of buildings and grounds, performs light repairs, supports equipment operators, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. Key Responsibilities: - Facility & Grounds Maintenance - Perform routine landscaping duties such as mowing, trimming, weeding, and debris removal. - Assist with building maintenance including painting, cleaning, and minor repairs. - Conduct basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks under supervision. - Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment. - Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and supplies as needed. - Assist in waste management and recycling operations around the facility. - Follow safety protocols while working in and around heavy equipment and vehicles. - Provide support to Heavy Equipment Operators (HEO) during transfer station operations. - Inspect tools and equipment regularly to ensure proper working condition. - Report maintenance needs, hazards, or equipment malfunctions promptly. - Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. - Comply with all company policies, environmental regulations, and safety procedures. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent (GED). - Valid driver’s license preferred. - Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely. - Willingness to learn basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and equipment maintenance. - Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor in outdoor conditions. - Dependable, team-oriented, and safety-conscious. Preferred Skills (Not Required): - Previous experience in general labor, maintenance, landscaping, or facility upkeep. - Basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation or mechanical systems. - OSHA or safety training certifications. Work Environment: - Outdoor and indoor work in varying weather conditions. - Exposure to noise, dust, odors, and waste materials typical of a transfer station setting. - Use of safety gear including hard hats, gloves, steel-toed boots, and reflective vests required.
