In collaboration with other systems and software engineers, the Senior Software Developer & Architect / Analyst will perform software development and integration of models into the distributed execution environment of IAMD M&S capabilities to include IDETS, IAMDSIM and ETESIM. In addition to development and integration support, this position may include making updates and improvements to existing models of the various sensors, shooters, and BMC3 elements represented within the various M&S tools. One specific focus area for this position is supporting the development, testing, and overall maturation of the IDETS capability that is a part of the Integrated Defense Designer within the IAMD Battle Command System (IBCS). Another key aspect to this position will require the individual to provide technical assistance in the preparation, conduct, post processing, results plotting/formatting, review, and reporting of analysis conducted utilizing IAMD’s M&S capabilities in support of the Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) and Integrated Fires (IF) government Project Offices. The Senior SW Developer & Engineer / Analyst must be able to serve as an individual contributor, as well as work effectively in a team environment by collaborating with and interacting with other developers, engineers, and analysts. This position will also include the ability to meet with outside contacts, to include prime contractor and government customers, for describing details of the IDETS development and progress towards desired capabilities and upgrades associated with upcoming releases of the tool. Requirements Education and Experience:  A four-year, Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college in Engineering, Physics, Math, or Computer Science is required. It is desired that candidates have a minimum of 12 years of experience with software development, modeling, simulation, and analysis of missile defense systems. The candidate must have a working knowledge of computers, software, and personal productivity tools such as Microsoft Office tool suite.  The candidate should have knowledge of and exposure to programming in Object-Oriented languages (preferably C, C++, Java), preferably in a Linux based environment. Experience and exposure to analysis tools and methods (e.g. Python, SQL scripting, Excel) will be beneficial. Primary Duties: Apply modern software engineering methods to the development and maintenance of various elements of the IDETS, IAMDSIM, and ETESIM environments, component models, and/or supporting software tools. Support setup and execution of specific tests using the various IAMD M&S simulations to include IDETS, IAMDSIM, and ETESIM. Apply and develop automated analysis tools (e.g. Python scripts, Excel, scripting languages) to process the logged results of test runs to compute various metrics describing the performance of the different elements and/or systems being modeled. Prepare reports/presentations, conduct briefings of analysis results, methodology and methods.  Work with other members of the lab’s software development and analysis teams.  Coordinate planned tasks in accordance with the task leader’s guidance.  Report accomplishments, status, and plans weekly. Limited travel might be required.   Work Schedule and Location: Work will primarily be performed at the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering & Integration (S3I) Directorate, Bldg 5400, Redstone Arsenal during the normal M-F work week between the hours of 0800 and 1700.  Some flexibility in work schedule can be accommodated; some limited after-hours and weekend work might be required. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has limited supervisory responsibilities consistent with that of a Technical SW Development Lead. Security Clearance:  Applicants must be able to obtain and hold a DoD security clearance at the Secret level. Desire that applicants already have a Secret level clearance.
