We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator & Programmer with experience in architectural millwork and custom fabrication to join our Make x Affect team at our Fabrication Facility located in Yonkers, NY. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality millwork components for commercial, retail, and hospitality projects. Key Responsibilities: Program, set up, and operate CNC routers for architectural millwork production in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Read and interpret shop drawings, CAD files, and work orders to ensure precision and accuracy in output. Create, adjust, and optimize CNC software such as SAI EnRoute, AutoCAD, AlphaCAM, or Microvelum to maximize efficiency and minimize material waste. Perform machine setups including tool changes, calibration, and fixture adjustments. Detect issues in the creation process and find solutions to ensure the machinery creates components in line with design specifications. Conduct quality checks on finished components to ensure compliance with design specifications and tolerances. Maintain and troubleshoot CNC machinery to ensure continuous, safe operation. Keep detailed records of operations, including production and quality logs to maintain operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel to resolve technical issues and improve workflow. Uphold safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area. Assist in other workshop tasks as needed. Qualifications & Skills: Required: 3+ years of CNC operating/programming experience in a millwork or woodworking environment. Strong understanding of woodworking techniques, joinery, and architectural millwork standards. Ability to read and interpret detailed shop drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files. Strong proficiency in CNC programming software (e.g., AlphaCAM, EnRoute, Microvellum, or similar). Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritize multiple tasks. Commitment to shop safety standards and proper practices. Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong numerical skills for precise measurements and calculations. Preferred but not essential: Prior experience with Biesse CNC machinery. Certification or Technical Degree in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering or related field. Familiarity with ERP/shop management systems (e.g., Innergy, Microvellum, or similar). Knowledge of tooling, cutting strategies, and machine optimization in a production millwork setting. Familiarity with AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) standards, local building codes, and ADA compliance regulations.
