Since 1986, we have been dedicated to serving individuals and families across Kaua‘i County. We’re seeking an energetic and motivated Independent Contractor Group Fitness Instructor to deliver fun, safe, and effective fitness classes to a diverse range of participants. This is a contract-based role, ideal for instructors who love inspiring others, building community, and adapting to different environments. -- Key Responsibilities -- Design and lead engaging group fitness classes (e.g., aerobics, strength training, flexibility, yoga, HIIT, specialty formats). Demonstrate proper exercise techniques, providing clear instructions and modifications for all fitness levels. Motivate participants and foster a positive, inclusive class environment. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the class area before and after sessions. Build rapport with participants and cultivate a sense of community. Respond to emergencies, administering first aid or CPR as needed. Keep certifications and personal liability insurance up to date. -- Qualifications -- High School Diploma or equivalent. Current group fitness certification from a recognized organization (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, Zumba). Current CPR and First Aid certification. Experience teaching group fitness classes preferred. Ability to adapt teaching styles and offer modifications for varying abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. -- Work Environment & Physical Demands -- Classes may be held in studios, community centers, pools, parks, or outdoor spaces. Frequent walking, standing, demonstrating exercises, and lifting/moving equipment required. Ability to adapt to varying temperatures, lighting, sound systems, and facilities. Must respond quickly in emergency situations. -- Contract Scope of Work -- Serve as a substitute instructor as needed, coordinated with HLH. Work with HLH to schedule class dates and times. Submit current fitness certifications, liability insurance, and CPR certification prior to starting. Status: Independent Contractor (not an employee) Competitive compensation, based on experience.
