Description

Rare classic DAWG game day car! This 1972 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale convertible is candy apple red with a white soft top and a black interior. The greatest aspect of this car is the engine. It has always run really well, very smoothly. Over 17 feet long. All your friends can tailgate in this one. The Ultimate Classic Convertible! • 350 engine • automatic transmission • wire wheel covers • after market radio I bought the car in Arizona in January 1994. It had about 23,000 miles on it at the time and I bought it from an 18 year old kid that had only had it for 6 months. I honestly didn’t bother to ask if the 20,000 miles was really 20,000 or actually 120,000 since I don’t think he really knew having only owned it for six months. Over time I came to believe I bought it with 20,000 miles, but I don’t know. But having been in Arizona, the car had no rust. In 1995 I drove it to the east coast and it’s been in Atlanta since that time. Most of the 30 years in GA have been garage kept. It’s a 1972 so there’s a list of things wrong, but the engine is remarkable. It has always run really well. Here's the good news & bad news ….. • The top has a few tears in it and does not go up and down electronically. You have to pull it up and down by hand. • I think the carb needs adjustment. I put a new carb on it two years ago and it seems to run low. Had a few guys “adjust it” but they didn’t know what they were doing. • Front hood has some body damage that can likely be corrected. • I made a few repairs in the past few years but haven’t driven it more than 20 miles a year, so many of the parts are not “new”, but they have low mileage. • Could minor body work. The core panels / doors are fine. Just needs some trim and repair. • Years ago there seemed to be a short in the car that was causing the battery to drain. I had numerous mechanics “repair” it, but none were successful. So, I finally installed a kill switch on the battery. That resolved that problem. But a couple years ago a mechanic told me the kill switch was no longer needed because some of the work done on the car resolved the short. He thinks it was resolved when I replaced the radio. I don’t know, but the kill switch is still on the car. • Numerous paint chips. • Could use a paint job. Buyer must pick up in mid town Atlanta.
