Hi, we've got an opening for a roommate (semi-furnished or unfurnished) in West Town. It's not the standard apartment but the right person will love it. $700 includes all utilities and internet. month-to-month. Preference given to foreign visitors or people needing a place for less than a year. The Bad: It's on a major street so it is louder than side-street living. Your room is sorta narrow but long (about 8'x24') with at least one window. You can’t fit an apartment’s worth of stuff in your room. It’s for someone who lives light. There is no bathtub (it's shower only). The makeshift kitchen is bare-bones (no cooking giant turkeys or 24-inch pizzas). The sinks (4) are antiques from the 1940's. You must walk up stairs (1 flight). You will be living with 3 other people (but in a very big place). There is no in-house laundry (laundromat is 1 minute walk away). There are no pets and we prefer it that way. Basically, imagine a pleasant Albanian hostel run out of an old public school. That kind of vibe. The Good: The space is really cool. It's a great location. Utilities are included. Though one room is furnished, we can help you with wall art that fits your tastes, or move it all out! There’s a people-watching room overlooking the intersection. Great for morning coffee. There is a large room at one end of the building that's great for gatherings, an art show, or when the occasional friend comes over late. Less than 3 minutes walk to: Multiple fine art galleries Good Thai food Good Mexican food Great Liquor store/bar 3 other great bars Laundromat Public Library Ashland Ave. Bus Chicago Ave. Bus Family Dollar Store Great Pizza Walgreens Hand-made Pies Great Puerto Rican food coffee shop gas station/mini mart Blue line is a 10 minute walk (3 min. by bus).. Parking isn't too bad, but during weekday business hours it takes a few minutes unless you want to pay. Given the size (and layout) of the place, some things work well here that wouldn't in the standard apartment: Hosting a birthday party for your best friend. Having an art show Organizing a monthly book club. Hosting an occasional cocktail party.
