As a Sawmill Utility Worker, you keep our sawmill running smoothly and safely by assisting in operations whenever needed. Your day-to-day tasks include: • Operating lifts, debarker, band mill, gang saw, trimmer, and other equipment. • Following proper operating procedures for all machinery. • Welding and performing routine maintenance on equipment. • Operating wood and gas boilers. • Assisting other operators and changing gang saws and blades. • Using computer skills to report production or maintenance needs. • Performing daily inspections and reporting unsafe conditions. • Wear required protective equipment and follow safety procedures at all times. • Report injuries, accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately. • Ensure all machinery and welding operations are handled safely and responsibly. Review and approve non-conformances (NC) and material review board (MRB) dispositions. Review documents and ensure requirements are met. Initiate correction/preventative action activities for nonconforming product including investigation, follow-up and root cause analysis.
