Description

Plant maintenance technician for a millwork/casework manufacturer plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of the production facility. *Must have experience in both high / low voltage controls. Responsibilities • Equipment Maintenance: • Performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various woodworking machinery like table saws, jointers, planers, CNC machines, and dust collection systems. • Maintaining and repairing pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical components such as pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, bearings, and chains. • Performing welding and fabrication tasks as needed. • Safety & Compliance: • Ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and regulations (OSHA, etc.). • Maintaining a safe and organized work environment, according to the Architectural Woodwork Institute. • Utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection. • General Maintenance: • Assisting with overall building maintenance tasks. • Providing coverage in the absence of other maintenance technicians. • Keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and service history. Requirements This role typically requires a strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, along with the ability to troubleshoot and interpret technical documents. Welding and fabrication experience is also valuable. Key soft skills include problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. While a high school diploma or GED is usually required, technical certifications or vocational training are often preferred. Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance setting is commonly sought after. Safety considerations Working in a millwork environment involves specific safety considerations. Wood dust poses a respiratory hazard, necessitating proper ventilation, dust collection, and respiratory protection. Woodworking machinery can be dangerous, requiring adherence to safe operating procedures, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout protocols. Additionally, the handling of adhesives, finishes, and cleaning chemicals requires careful management and ventilation to prevent inhalation and skin exposure. Salary Commensurate with experience.
