Plant People Northwest is a small, sustainable landscaping company. Our service area includes North Seattle, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, and Magnolia. We seek a seasoned horticulturist who is experienced in leading professional garden crews to join our team. You can work either full-time, or part-time (minimum three days a week). Our schedule is from 8-4, Monday through Friday (no weekends). This is a year-round position. The right candidate will have proficiency in all aspects of garden care: correct pruning, mulching, and planting techniques, western Washington weed and plant identification, and more. We seek someone with a depth of horticultural knowledge that surpasses the typical “mow and blow” landscaping operation. We will work with the right person to train them in our standards and systems before placing them in leadership. You will: - Manage the workflow and quality of work on job sites - Ensure that safety standards are being followed - Train and mentor crew members - Communicate daily with clients and managers Qualifications: - Minimum 2 years in professional landscaping with a horticulture-focused company - Experience leading others on a professional garden crew - Excellent plant ID and pruning skills - Strong communication, teamwork, recordkeeping, and organizational skills - Ability to lift 50+ lbs and enjoy working outdoors in all weather - Have a valid WA driver's license and a clean driving record - Have a reliable vehicle for transportation to job sites, and a smartphone for accessing our calendar and other tools. The Ideal Candidate We are seeking a reliable and skilled individual with a strong work ethic and a deep understanding of arboriculture and tree removal, tree pruning, and related rope and rigging skills. You should have a proven track record in: • Advanced Tree Climbing: Proficient in various climbing techniques, including SRT and DRT, and experienced in safely accessing trees for various tasks. • Tree Removal: Expert in technical and high-risk tree removals, including rigging and strategic felling in confined or complex spaces. • Tree Pruning: Knowledgeable in industry-standard pruning techniques (e.g., ANSI A300 standards) to improve tree health, structure, and aesthetics. • Equipment Operation: Skilled in operating and maintaining equipment like chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders, mini-ski, excavator experience a plus. • Safety: Committed to following all safety protocols and procedures on the job site. Requirements • 3 years of professional experience as an arborist or tree climber. • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. • Current arborist certifications (ISA Certified Arborist, etc.) are a plus, but not required. • Your own climbing gear and saws is preferred, but we can discuss options.
