The Happy Crane is a modern Chinese restaurant in San Francisco that seeks to change the perception of what a Chinese restaurant can be. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef de Partie who ideally comes with strong technical abilities and a deep appreciation for Chinese cuisine or broader Asian culinary traditions. You’ll take ownership of a station, contributing to an innovative and elevated menu rooted in cultural authenticity and modern technique. This role requires leadership, precision, and a commitment to excellence. Responsibilities: Manage and execute prep and service from an assigned station Consistently deliver high-quality dishes with accuracy, finesse, and attention to detail as well as plating aesthetics Communicate effectively with the Kitchen team and Chef de Cuisine Collaborate closely with the Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chefs on evolving menu items Support Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef with taking inventory, updating pars/current stock and station ordering Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient station operating at the high standard of hygiene that The Happy Crane has set for the restaurant Support other chefs and contribute to an inclusive and positive kitchen culture Lead mise en place for the station and maintain organization throughout the shift Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation Qualifications: 2+ years experience in either high-volume, fine dining and/or upscale Asian/Chinese cuisine kitchens Strong knife skills and deep understanding of Asian ingredients, sauces, and techniques Experience with wok cooking, dim sum preparation, or regional Chinese cuisines is a plus Ability to work calmly under pressure, multitask, and maintain consistency Passionate about culinary innovation, seasonality, and cultural respect Open to feedback, mentoring others, and continuous improvement Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays Pay/Salary: $21.18 + Pooled Tips with Service Team Benefits: Medical Benefits (50% Contribution from The Happy Crane), Dental Insurance, Wellness Practices, 50% Dining Discount at the restaurant (exclusive of alcohol and limited to 2x per year and up to 4 guests), Set schedule
