Accounting/Finance Manager – Real Estate We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the financial operations of our real estate portfolio and provide comprehensive financial support to the owners, including tax planning and personal financial management. You will oversee accounting functions, including financial reporting and management of accounting software (Buildium), and provide strategic advice to enhance financial performance, optimize taxes, and support business and personal financial decisions. You will manage complex areas such as tax planning (including depreciation), debt optimization, insurance oversight, and provide support for the owners' personal finances, relieving them of increasingly complicated financial details. In terms of commercial real estate, we own two commercial office condos (Mountain View, 5,000 square feet), one commercial office building (Boston, 9,600 square feet), one medical office building (Los Angeles, 44,000 square feet), and six one-bedroom apartments (Boston and San Jose). Your Primary Duties - Manage all functions and staff relating to the accounting of our properties, reporting to senior management - Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all other day-to-day accounting tasks - Complete the installation and integration of Buildium software to streamline accounting processes - Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes - Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports - Lead, mentor, and manage a small accounting team of 1-2 employees, ensuring effective task delegation and team development. - Provide detailed tax planning and strategy to optimize both business and personal tax outcomes. Your Secondary Duties - Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR - Collaborate in the preparation of annual budgets and long-term financial planning - Offer strategic financial advice to optimize operations, reduce costs, and drive profitability - Provide support for personal financial management, including tax returns, personal investments, and other financial concerns as needed. - Support property management and accounting functions, and assist with other ad-hoc projects as needed In summary, you will need both advanced accounting expertise and the flexibility to handle a variety of tasks, from high-level strategy to day-to-day operations. You will handle activities such as contacting vendors, reconciling bank and credit card statements, automating procedures, utilizing the accounting software's features more fully, and handling everything required to get work done. You will have 1-2 direct reports. Your Qualifications - 7-15 years of experience in accounting, preferably with a degree in accounting and focus on real estate - Proficiency in Buildium and QuickBooks (preferred) - Experience in supervising and developing small teams - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Expertise in personal tax planning and advanced tax strategies. - Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively - Legal authorization to work in the United States Compensation, Location, and Schedule - $80,000 annually, paid semi-monthly, plus benefits - In-office position at our Mountain View location (this is not a remote position) - Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility as required to meet job responsibilities - Hiring schedule: We are looking to fill this role urgently and are eager to find the right candidate P.S.
