Typical Duties Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, powertrains, transmissions, and braking systems Perform preventative maintenance (oil, filters, fluids, belts, etc.) Troubleshoot complex electrical and hydraulic systems Fabricate or weld parts when needed Operate diagnostic software and service manuals Keep records of repairs, parts used, and service intervals Ensure safety compliance (OSHA, DOT, MSHA depending on industry) 📚 Skills Needed Strong mechanical and technical knowledge Hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting Welding and fabrication Reading schematics/blueprints Computerized diagnostic tools Problem solving and adaptability (field breakdowns often need quick solutions)
