Distillation Plant Operator

Schedule: Must be available for all shifts to include day, evening, and overnight. Some shifts include weekends and weekend overnight. Shifts are a rotating swing shift 8 or 12 hour. Pay Range is 24-32/hour Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Run distillation units by connecting feed, product, and sludge tanks and apply proper amount of heat from boilers and maintain operating hourly logs to insure that unit is operating at peak efficiency Conducts Solvent recovery for the chemical manufacturing production units via a trio of distillation columns Charge and discharge pot stills with appropriate gallon amounts of liquid to run product to specifications Basic knowledge and understanding of Plant Utilities to include but not limited to:  Steam/Condensate, Cooling Water, Chilled Water, Nitrogen, Air Drier and Compressors, and Process Water Basic knowledge and understanding of common plant equipment to include but not limited to:  Condensers, Heat Exchangers, Safety Vents, Conservation Vents, Rupture Discs, Control Valves, Automatic On/Off Valves, Centrifugal Pumps, Diaphragm Pumps, and Various Valves (Ball Valves, Butterfly Valves, Gate Valves). Basic knowledge and understanding of Distillation Columns and their Operations. Ability to learn or previous working experience with ERP Systems such as Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards to be able to enter Work Orders for equipment repairs and coordinating with the Maintenance Department. Basic knowledge and understanding of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations is a plus, but not required. Basic knowledge and understanding of the following Control Devices is a plus, but not required:  Steam Stripper for the stripping of solvents from wastewater, Thermal Oxidizer / Ground Flare, and Cryogenic Condenser. Working experience with Safe Work Permits, Hot Work Permits, Line Break Permits, Lock-Out Tag-Out Permits, and Confined Space Permits. Documentation skills and techniques.  Ability to record information in Log Books and record data/information in Batch Sheets. Basic knowledge and understanding in pulling representative samples (liquid samples) from process operations.
