Love basketball and have an eye for detail? We’re looking for a scorekeeper to help keep our games running smoothly this season! The Basketball League Scorekeeper is a limited part-time, on-site position responsible for supporting the smooth operation of adult basketball league games at JCC Greater Boston. This role involves accurate scorekeeping, game-day setup and breakdown, and maintaining a positive and professional presence during games. The ideal candidate is dependable, knowledgeable about the game of basketball, and committed to providing excellent service to players and officials. This position plays a vital role in maintaining fairness, timeliness, and order of games. Is able to work weekday evenings. Responsibilities & duties List of essential functions of the job and correlating primary duties to be performed in the role.  Responsibilities: ·       Arrive 15–20 minutes prior to scheduled league games to assist with court setup. Court set includes setting up the clocks, basketball hoops are at 10ft, divider is set to full court, game basketballs are available, safe environment is ensured. ·       Report any hazards or maintenance needs to the League Coordinator or On-Duty Manager ·       Operate the JCC’s scoreboard and maintain accurate scorebooks during games. ·       Understand and apply basketball rules as needed throughout gameplay. ·       Check team rosters to ensure player waivers are signed and up to date. ·       Set up and break down court equipment including putting clock away in sports closet. ·       Communicate with referees and game officials to ensure smooth operations. Skills & Abilities: ·       Strong understanding of basketball rules, terminology, and game flow. ·       Ability to track scores, time, and stats accurately and efficiently during fast-paced games. ·       Dependable and punctual; able to arrive early, stay on schedule, and manage multiple tasks during games. ·       Clear and professional communication with referees, players, and staff; ability to relay issues or concerns as needed. ·       Friendly, approachable demeanor with the ability to represent the JCC positively to members and guests. Certifications & Physical Requirements: CPR/First Aid Certification preferred. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and work in a fast-paced environment.
