Description

Launch provides toddlers through tweens with inspiring math instruction and STEM-based camps and workshops. The company is hiring part-time afterschool Math Enrichment Instructors (Tutors) to teach at its Manhattan location on the Upper West Side. Launch Learning K-8 Math is an individualized program offering K to 8th grade students semi-private math instruction presented in a fun, engaging way. Launch Learning's student-to-instructor ratio is superb at no more than 2:1 (but even lower at most times). As a Launch Math Enrichment Instructor you are expected to: Provide top quality math instruction utilizing the Launch Learning methods in a semi-private setting Enthusiastically engage students during instructional sessions Help students gain confidence in their ability to learn and succeed Consistently monitor and asses students' progress Maintain regular communications with Launch Learning K-8 Program Coordinator Requirements Solid knowledge of math concepts for grades K through 8th grade Strong desire to teach children Personable, friendly, reliable and communicative Previous experience working with students as a tutor or in a similar capacity A relatively flexible schedule and the ability to commit to servicing students for a full academic year Most important, the belief that every student can learn and love math and science Benefits All curriculum and materials are provided (you do NOT need to create lesson plans) Part time position (weekday afternoons) Center location: Upper West Side (Amsterdam Ave and 81st St) The position pays $17 per hour

About the Role In order to achieve its ambition of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is hiring a part-time Grader who will play a central role in supporting students (known in Braven as Fellows) toward success during the Accelerator. A Grader is the first line of support to a caseload of students in their academic mastery in the Braven Accelerator. The primary goal of Graders is ensuring their students are engaged and succeeding academically in the course. This role is on the RU-N Team and reports directly to the Director, Program Success What You’ll Do  Grade assignments for an assigned group of students using rubrics and provide meaningful feedback Support students who are flagged because of their grade, engagement, and/or other personal issues Communicate to the Braven team, group facilitators (known in Braven as Leadership Coaches, or LCs), and students about students’ mastery, engagement, and upcoming deadlines Attend one virtual class (known in Braven as ‘Learning Labs’) night per week (Tuesdays 6:00 PM-8:00 PM ET, Wednesdays from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM ET or Friday 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM ET) to build relationships with students, provide support and answer questions about upcoming assignments, observe cohorts, and potentially substitute for absent group facilitators/LCs Hold one hour of virtual office hours per week (Support students who come with questions and proactively reach out to students who need more support) Support students outside of office hours as needed Deeply internalize Braven's instructional content such as modules, slide decks, assignments, and rubrics Attend all live trainings and complete additional asynchronous trainings.
