We are a busy cafe located in the Kearny Mesa area(right off the 52 freeway) with a reputation for excellent food and drinks. We are open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3 p.m. Higher Grounds has 2 locations and corporate catering services. Our catering business has recently expanded, increasing our daily lunches. The cook need to have experience in prep, breakfast, hotline and coldline. Our fast-paced model allows us to be ready for a busy lunch, having all items to be made within 5 minutes. Our food is fresh with a chef-driven seasonal menu that changes frequently. We also run a daily house-made soup, lunch special, and latte and matcha special. Doing this keeps our menu exciting for the customers and staff, always seeing and learning new things. Spanish-speaking is a plus. The job: The job consists of starting at 6:30 am or 7 am (depending on the station), working tickets as they come in on the cold line or hotline, along with preparing for lunch and assisting with lunch catering drop-offs. We do 3 different caterings per day, each one for about 20-30 lunches. You must work fast, have good knife skills, and be a team player. We work together to accomplish our commitment to be the best cafe and caterer we can be. Compensation: We are a pooled house, so that means that all of the hourly employees share the tips evenly based on the hours worked.
