This might be the perfect opportunity for you!! Higher Grounds Coffee + Cafe is looking to add 2 experienced cooks to our team. We are a busy cafe located in the Kearny Mesa area(right off the 52 freeway) with a reputation for excellent food and drinks. We are open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3 p.m. Higher Grounds has 2 locations and corporate catering services. Our catering business has recently expanded, increasing our daily lunches. The cook need to have experience in prep, breakfast, hotline and coldline. Our fast-paced model allows us to be ready for a busy lunch, having all items to be made within 5 minutes. Our food is fresh with a chef-driven seasonal menu that changes frequently. We also run a daily house-made soup, lunch special, and latte and matcha special. Doing this keeps our menu exciting for the customers and staff, always seeing and learning new things. Spanish-speaking is a plus. The job: The job consists of starting at 6:30 am or 7 am (depending on the station), working tickets as they come in on the cold line or hotline, along with preparing for lunch and assisting with lunch catering drop-offs. We do 3 different caterings per day, each one for about 20-30 lunches. You must work fast, have good knife skills, and be a team player. We work together to accomplish our commitment to be the best cafe and caterer we can be. The stronger the team the more opportunities that will come up for us which means more growth for the team, "a rising tide lifts all ships". Compensation: We are a pooled house, so that means that all of the hourly employees share the tips evenly based on the hours worked. All of the gratuity from the daily customers, along with caterings, will go into the tip pool and will be divided and added to the paychecks. This typically adds $4-$8 per hour to your paycheck. We can deliver a consistent schedule and consistent weekly hours, we see this as very important so our staff can plan accordingly. Amenities: We have a full gym and locker room access, along with a basketball court on the property. We offer a staff meal when available and 50% off any food items that you would like to order. We offer free coffee drinks while on your shift and 50% off for after hours or days off. We are closed all Saturdays and Sundays along with all major holidays such as 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day, along with a handful of others. Fruitlands Museum has a diverse collection of art and material culture on 210 acres of land, stunning views, and miles of walking trails. In 1843, Amos Bronson Alcott and Charles Lane turned a swath of Harvard farmland into a Transcendentalist experiment in subsistence farming and Emersonian self-reliance, named Fruitlands, which ultimately disbanded after only seven months. In 1914, Clara Endicott Sears opened the grounds to the public, establishing a museum in the property’s 1820s farmhouse.
