This role is critical to maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our back-of-house kitchen operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, trustworthy, and takes pride in a sparkling clean kitchen. This position focuses on early mornings, late-night shifts after service, and Sunday deep cleaning. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: • Perform detailed cleaning of all kitchen areas, including prep stations, cooking equipment, walk-ins, walls, floors, drains, and storage areas. • Sanitize and disinfect surfaces according to health and safety regulations. • Maintain cleanliness of hood vents, grease traps, and other high-use equipment. • Empty, clean, and reline trash and recycling bins. • Restock cleaning supplies and alert management when inventory is low. • Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to a high standard after service or before operations begin. • Support with additional deep cleaning projects on Sunday afternoons. This is the time to clean under equipment, clean walls, ceiling tiles etc. Bottom side of the tables etc. Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards required in a commercial kitchen. • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management promptly. ________________________________________ Requirements: • Previous cleaning or janitorial experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen setting preferred. • Ability to work early mornings (5–10am) and/or late nights (after 10pm), and Sunday afternoons or all day Monday. (these are the times when we are closed). • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow cleaning checklists. Our catering business has recently expanded, increasing our daily lunches. The cook need to have experience in prep, breakfast, hotline and coldline. Our fast-paced model allows us to be ready for a busy lunch, having all items to be made within 5 minutes. Our food is fresh with a chef-driven seasonal menu that changes frequently. We also run a daily house-made soup, lunch special, and latte and matcha special. Doing this keeps our menu exciting for the customers and staff, always seeing and learning new things. The job: The job consists of starting at 6:30 am or 7 am (depending on the station), working tickets as they come in on the cold line or hotline, along with preparing for lunch and assisting with lunch catering drop-offs. We do 3 different caterings per day, each one for about 20-30 lunches. You must work fast, have good knife skills, and be a team player. We work together to accomplish our commitment to be the best cafe and caterer we can be. Compensation: We are a pooled house, so that means that all of the hourly employees share the tips evenly based on the hours worked.
