South Restaurant + Coffeehouse is searching for an experienced, professional Sous Chef to join our team! Night and weekend availability is a must. Opened in 2015, South Restaurant + Coffeehouse is an award-winning restaurant located in south Anchorage. Over the last three years, Anchorage Daily News and Anchorage Press readers have voted South Best New Restaurant, Best Brunch, Best Cocktail Menu, Best Business Breakfast, Best Atmosphere, and Best Restaurant. South offers breakfast, lunch, dinner 7 days a week. Role/Responsibilities include:Working with Executive Chef, develop seasonal menu items and monthly specials and train team to execute. Manage the line, prep, and dish crew during dinner service. Create excellent dining experience for our guests an ensure that all dishes leave the kitchen to the highest standards of quality and consistency. Train new hires and coach the crew members on a continual basis. Conduct daily tastings and inspections for quality, consistency, and food safety. Ensure that all daily opening/closing duties are completed by the kitchen staff. Complete daily shift reports on operational and staff issues. Must have flexible availability. Qualified candidates will have the following:Must have 5+ years experience cooking and working in high-volume kitchens. Experience in kitchen management/supervision preferred. Comfortable in a leadership role and able to work happily and effectively under pressure. Must have Municipality of Anchorage Food Worker Card. ServSafe certified preferred, but not required. Must have experience with Word and Excel. Experience with Google Suite/Google Drive preferred. Experience with menu development and kitchen inventory preferred.
