Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Track and Field Coach to join the Promise Academy After-School program. The Track and Field Coach will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life. The Promise Academy Afterschool program is an extension of Promise Academy day school. The program provides 500+ students in grades K-12 a safe, nurturing, and educational environment that fosters self-confidence and personal and social development.  Students are exposed to a variety of fun-filled project-based learning, developmental, and high-caliber enrichment activities, which include arts enrichment (e.g., performing, culinary and visual arts), tutoring, homework help, and academic intervention support, as well as health/wellness and physical fitness education.  Additionally, students are engaged in leadership development activities, including student government, character education, and conflict resolution, and participate in several team sports and recreation activities, including basketball, volleyball, and soccer. We are seeking a part-time Track & Field Coach. The ideal candidate will develop a high-quality track and field/cross-country program for scholars and provide effective leadership. Requirements Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma / GED Keen knowledge of USATF and AAU regulations, policies, and procedures   Who you are • A demonstrated commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ • Bachelor's degree preferred • Former track athlete/coach is ideal • Keen knowledge of USATF and AAU regulations, policies, and procedures • Highly effective at fostering a culture of great sportsmanship, respect for others, and self-discipline • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with scholars, parents, staff • Robust attention to detail, and must have familiarity with logistics of track meets and events • Knowledge and/or sensitivity to issues prevalent in underserved communities of color   What you'll do • Create and expand the track and field/cross-country program • Develop and administer effective practices to ultimately keep scholar-athletes engaged • Organize off-season training, practices, and meets • Monitor and report on student progress and performance both in the classroom and playing field • Partner with administration and teachers to ensure scholar-athletes are in full compliance with the Athletic Department Code of Conduct • Monitor, record, and file essential documents pertaining to scholars on the team (waiver form, permission form, health form, etc.) • Develop positive relationships with scholars that promote wellness, social-emotional growth, respect, and increased self-esteem • Bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone, an understanding and respect for the culture of all residents of Harlem • Perform other duties as assigned   Schedule Fall/Spring: Monday-Thursday 2 PM- 7:30 PM Friday 2 PM-7 PM Summer: Monday-Thursday 11 AM-4:30 PM Friday 11 AM-4:30 PM Potentially working Saturdays or Sundays is required, depending on the sport & game schedule.    Benefits As a member of the Harlem Children's Zone team, you will join a supportive and inclusive community dedicated to helping children, families — and our staff — thrive.  Please take a look at our Part-Time benefits below.  Our exceptional Part-Time benefits include:  Career Advancement Paid sick leave Employee referral bonus  Physical wellness discounts Commuter benefits Additional Benefits (Discounts on flights, hotels, theme parks, concert tickets, and more.)   The salary range for this position is $25-$30 per hour. What You'll Do Team Leadership & Development Lead, coach, and support 4-6 Regional Program Managers to achieve ambitious program goals and professional growth objectives through hands-on management and regular oversight Provide direct coaching on program implementation, community partnerships, and stakeholder engagement Conduct regular site visits to program locations for coaching, feedback, and stakeholder relationship building Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning across the regional team Strategic Partnerships & Regional Relationships Build and maintain high-level relationships with school districts, funders, community organizations, and key stakeholders Support Regional Program Managers in identifying and securing program growth opportunities Support funder relationship management, including grant reporting and submission activities Represent HealthCorps at district-level meetings, community events, and strategic planning sessions National Collaboration & Systems Development Collaborate with a national team of directors to develop synchronized systems, resources, and best practices Contribute to the development and implementation of standardized program delivery models Share regional insights and innovations to inform national program strategy Participate in national director meetings, training, and strategic planning initiatives Program Quality & Growth Ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery across all Regional sites Monitor program outcomes and impact metrics to drive continuous improvement Support the development and execution of regional program expansion strategies Maintain oversight of regional budget management and resource allocation Community Engagement & Stakeholder Relations Serve as a key point of contact for regional funders and major community partners Support community engagement initiatives and public representation of HealthCorps Facilitate cross-sector partnerships to amplify program impact and sustainability Requirements Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field Experience: 7-10 years of relevant experience in health education, health promotion, or other youth serving organization with 3-5 years of experience leading programs and teams. Team Management: Proven track record managing multiple direct reports and driving results through others Youth Programming: Significant experience in youth development, school-based programming, or education-focused initiatives Relationship Management: Demonstrated success building and maintaining relationships with funders, school districts, and community stakeholders Essential Skills Strategic Leadership: Ability to develop and execute multi-site regional strategies with measurable outcomes Team Development: Strong coaching and mentoring skills with experience developing high-performing teams Partnership Building: Exceptional relationship management skills with diverse stakeholders including educators, funders, and community leaders Grant Management: Experience with funder relations, grant reporting, and funding development activities Communication: Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills for diverse audiences Systems Thinking: Ability to work collaboratively within national frameworks while adapting to local needs Problem-Solving: Proven ability to navigate complex challenges in resource-limited environments Cultural Competency: Demonstrated success working with diverse communities and populations Physical & Logistical Requirements Travel: Approximately 10-15% travel time across the regional territory Transportation: Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for local and regional travel Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, data management systems, and virtual collaboration tools Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and work extended hours as needed for events and site visits Flexibility: Available for occasional evening, weekend, or overnight travel for regional events and national meetings Benefits At HealthCorps, we believe our team members are our greatest asset. Competitive Salary This is a full-time, salaried position and you will be offered a comprehensive benefits package. Yearly compensation for the role ranges from $60,000-$70,000 depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and location. While this is currently the solo position in Development, it is performance-driven with room for growth.  Remote Oppurtunity with Occasional Travel You will be a remote employee. Preference given to employees that live in one of our hub areas: Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Philadelphia, PA, New York City, NY, or Baltimore, MD.  Position may require some evening hours. Anticipate occasional overnight travel throughout the year.
