Electricians must be able to TROUBLESHOOT!!!! Job Summary: The Service/ Warranty Technician is responsible for completing residential electrical work on homes before and after homeowners move in. Ensuring all electrical is properly functioning in the new home. Duties/Responsibilities: Warranty Calls • Ensuring timeliness of calls regarding homeowners’ schedule. • Able to troubleshoot and repair homeowners’ electrical issues. • Ability to handle dissatisfied homeowners and deescalate situations regarding frustration of call etc. Duties/Responsibilities: Hot Checks • Able to accurately complete “Hot Checks” prior to final inspection and homeowner closing. • Must have knowledge in energizing and deenergizing homes. • Able to troubleshoot any faulty equipment, circuit, and breakers. Duties/Responsibilities: Punch Lists • Must be able to complete Punch List – A punch list is a quality checklist from the builder of the homeowner of any issues identified during the walk through. • Must be able to troubleshoot and read blueprints/ floor plans. • Must have National Electric Code (NEC) knowledge. Required Skills/Abilities: • Electrical trade knowledge for all aspects of residential electrical. • Ability to read prints and scale to ensure placement of fixtures, receptacles, switches, etc. • Must have their own standard residential electrical tools. • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. • Must have specialty tool use knowledge – i.e. Jack Hammer, Generator, Multimeter, Toner. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Must be able to read paperwork and fill out necessary information. Education and Experience: • Previous experience in all phases of residential electrical. • High school diploma or GED preferred. • Must have electrical safety knowledge. (Lock Out Tag Out) Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, and climbing ladders. • Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits. • Must be able to work in hot and confined spaces (attic work). • Must be able to use hand and power tools for extended periods of time. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. • Must have clean driving record. Jacob Interior Trim has been in the finish carpentry business for 30+ years and is seeking trim carpenters with all levels of experience to work in residential production housing. We have crews in Kane County (Aurora, Gilberts, Elgin), Kendall County (Yorkville, Oswego), Will County (Joliet, Plainfield, Tinley Park, New Lenox) and Kankakee County (Kankakee, Bourbonnais) and will do our best scheduling to keep you close to home. Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm with opportunities for overtime. Full time, year round, w2 position. Pay is based on experience, $18-35 per hour. Foreman, Hardware & Service, and Rail & Stair Install leads drive a company vehicle with tools and paid fuel. The carpenter will have an inventory of their own hand tools to use alongside company provided tools and supplies. The work involved has physical requirements, which include bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and standing for long periods. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, sketches, design details or instructions from supervisors. • Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall. • Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders. • Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives. • Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure. • Build stairs, mantles, and cabinetry. • Install cabinets and molding. • Replace and hang doors. • Drill and set door hardware. • Erect scaffolding. • Install partitions, doors, and windows • Maintain clean and orderly work areas. • Cut, shape, and assemble wood, composition, and/or plastic sections with shop tools and equipment such as planers, jointers, shaper, routers, sanders, and various power saws. • Assemble prepared components for various structures, including cabinets, bookcases, desks, and paneled doors. • Prepare structures for finish applications by planing, shaping and sanding; using hand and power tools. • Maintain and clean equipment and work area. • Perform related duties as assigned or needed. QUALIFICATIONS A carpenter must have knowledge of practices, procedures, tools and equipment, material, quality control, and safety.
