CNC Laser and/or Punch Programmer (Milwaukie)

Opening for an experienced Amada Punch Press Operator. The position is responsible for setting up and operating a turret punch press to produce precision sheet metal parts according to customer specifications. Experience with Amada Vipros 358 is beneficial. This person will have the opportunity to work on up to 10 different work orders every day, producing different parts from a variety of different gauge metals. Here’s what you’ll be doing: • Receive work orders with production instructions and work with our Tool & Die and Materials Teams to get the brake press and the work station ready for production. • Inspect the set-up and run quality tests on the brake press. • Run the Brake Press while monitoring quality, consistency, and compliance of the parts being produced. • Troubleshoot production issues and adjust the set-up to fulfill the requirements of the work order. • Log work order progress and provide information to Quality, as requested. • Remove the tool and reset the brake press set-up for the next work order. • Be flexible and versatile to fill-in in other areas to meet the needs of ever-changing bottlenecks. You’ll love this job if you have/are: • 5 – 10 years of experience in the metal manufacturing industry, preferably in a job shop environment • 5 – 8 years of experience operating a brake press, preferably an Amada • 3+ years of experience completing set-ups on brake presses, preferably an Amada • Committed to contributing to the team effort • Flexible and willing to assist the team in other areas when needed Position Details: • Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm or 4:30pm – 3:00am • Wage Range: $25 - $35 / hour 2nd Shift offers up to 10% shift differential. Job Summary: This is for a night shift position. You would be responsible for performing equipment and property maintenance, as well as mechanical and electrical repairs. This includes appropriate and accurate troubleshooting and research of all equipment in the Production departments as well as all support departments and their respective equipment. Technicians are also called on to address various office area equipment. Shift: Night Shift, 6:00 pm - 6:00 am Thursday, Friday, Saturday, every other Sunday OR Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, every other Sunday Essential Job Functions: • Answer and or research any questions related to the mechanics of any piece of equipment in the manufacturing areas including Bindery, Pressroom, Shipping, Mailing etc. • Give daily attention especially to the Pressroom and Bindery equipment as directed by Pressroom and Bindery Manager or Supervision/Leadership. • When not on specific equipment breakdown or trouble call, carryout various preventive maintenance work and duties on Press or Bindery equipment. • Assist manufacturing leadership in the basic maintenance training of bindery and pressroom personnel so that those lead operators can assist or outright perform most of their own PM duties on the equipment. • Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, or ring gauges. • Always work in conjunction with lead operators and Dept. Leadership when ordering parts. • Works with all fellow co-workers in a respectful, cooperative manner. • Willing to contribute whether by phone or in person to any mechanical problem that may arise at any given time. • Self-driven, able to work independently or with others. • Performs other tasks as requested or required Advanced qualifications that help with pay: • Electrical and Mechanical training/experience/certifications • PLC Background/Training Required Qualifications/Competencies: • English Language: Knowledge of the language in order to effectively and safely communicate with dept. personnel. • Basic trouble-shooting skills • Willingness to learn new machines. Summary Under minimum supervision, operates and follows instructions to operate the machines in a safe and efficient manner. Monitor the operations of the machines and notify the supervisor if there are any problems. Visually inspect parts produced and determine if they meet quality standards. Complete documentation on defective parts. Essential Duties • Operator molding and other production machines in a safe and efficient manner, notifying the lead or supervisor if there are any problems. Some troubleshooting skills are required. • Visually inspect parts and determine if they meet the acceptable quality limits. Conduct quality checks using measuring equipment. • Package parts as specified to ensure proper and safe handling of the product. • Log all rejects on the Attribute Charts. • Review the operator inspection procedure before taking over any job. • Label all boxes after packaging to ensure proper handling of parts. • Ability to use basic measuring Equipment. • Degate and trim parts as required using secondary machinery to accomplish. • Ability to perform secondary operations such as gluing, welding, trimming, and some assembly. • Ability to use part count scale.
