(mid-November to January 4) Job Details We are currently seeking experienced Line Cooks to join our team for the 2025 Lightscape Holiday season. Great opportunities for learning and growth as we promote from within our restaurant. Training for the Lightscape Season begins mid-November, with Lightscape kicking off on November 20th and lasting through January 4th. Opportunities for continued employment are available after the Lightscape Season. The Lightscape Lodge, our sit-down upscale restaurant, serves seasonal, elevated fare for guests celebrating their special visit to the Garden! Located in Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Yellow Magnolia Café is a chef-driven modern American restaurant focused on locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. The café menu offers brunch and all-day dining options centered around vegetable-centric small plates, heartier main dishes, plant-inspired desserts, and a seasonally focused beverage program.   Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of one year working as a cook at an upscale restaurant Experience with food production for large catering or banquet functions Passion for food and cooking techniques Strong leadership qualities Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules. Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared food items. Uses established ticket collection procedures during service. Responsible for records from area worked during service periods. Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures. Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards. Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed. Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required. Assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required. Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately. Attends in-service and safety meetings. Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers. Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Your Role…. Contribute to the world-class experience for our guests by maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and supporting the culinary and service with any equipment they might need. Key Responsibilities: Clean and sanitize all pots and pans, china, glassware, silverware, kettles, and roasting pans. Sweep and mop floors of the kitchen, elevator landing and storage spaces (including oil and chemical rooms). Remove all dirty dishes, and clean and sanitize all surfaces in kitchen including shelves and cabinets. Wash floor mats, speed racks, dollies and queen marys. Empty trash cans and keep loading dock clean. Replenish sanitation solution every two hours. Clean all walk-ins, freezers, reach-ins and back hallways. Clean and sanitize ice machine in kitchen and sub-basement level. Daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment such as rational machines, ovens, and tilt pans. Remove all debris from kitchen such as discarded boxes, kitchen cloths, aprons and other waste products to the subbasement. Clean drains in kitchen and surrounding outlets.
