Metal Recycling Buyer (san leandro)
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Metal Recycling Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong sales background, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. While prior knowledge of metal commodities is helpful, it is not required—we will provide training.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals from customers, suppliers, and industrial accounts.
Evaluate materials and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive purchasing while maintaining profitability.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
Accurately record transactions, weights, and pricing in sales and inventory programs.
Stay familiar with company purchasing guidelines, pricing trends, and relevant sales systems.
Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure timely processing and movement of purchased materials.
Work toward achieving and exceeding individual and team sales goals.
Qualifications
Strong sales background with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
Knowledge of various sales programs, CRM tools, or point-of-sale systems.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build trust and long-term relationships.
Ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and detail-driven.
Knowledge of metal commodities is preferred but not required—training will be provided.
Work Environment
Fast-paced recycling yard/industrial environment.
Frequent interaction with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of materials.
