Daufuskie Island, SC, 29915 $22 - $45 / hr Full-Time Paid time off Job Description We are seeking a skilled and dependable Water and Wastewater Utility Operator to operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment and distribution systems, as well as wastewater collection and treatment facilities. This role ensures that all systems comply with federal, state, and local regulations to protect public health and the environment. Key Responsibilities: Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plants, including pumps, valves, motors, filters, tanks, and related equipment. Monitor and control treatment processes through computer systems (SCADA) and manual inspections. Collect water and wastewater samples for laboratory testing and analyze results to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems. Maintain accurate records and logs of plant operations, maintenance activities, and regulatory reporting. Respond to emergencies, equipment malfunctions, or water/wastewater line breaks as needed, including on-call rotations. Assist with capital improvement projects and upgrades to utility systems. Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. Conduct inspections of distribution and collection systems and report on system conditions. Provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public and other departments. Meter Reading, installation and all meter service related processes for consumption. Qualifications: Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training in water/wastewater treatment preferred. South Carolina LLR licensing preferred. Willing to train those that are willing to learn. Must be willing to commute by Ferry, from Hilton Head Island to Daufuskie Island (Ferry pass included with position)
