Aloha from The Big Island of Hawaii, Escape the cold of winter and exchange your environment for the tropics. We have a 2.25-acre estate in Kona, Hawaii that is in need of an individual with extensive finish carpentry skills, an understanding of plumbing and electrical, painting, and general maintenance. I could entertain a couple if the second party maintained housekeeping responsibilities. This commitment is for a minimum of 90 days, however if all parties are content, the contract can be long term. This position will be open as now. If hired, one can expect a round trip ticket from your nearest major airport to Kona, Hawaii. While on property, we will provide you with private hi-end accommodations, free cable and wi-fi, laundry, gourmet breakfast and dinner on the weekdays, and a negotiated stipend (?). Lastly, we will occasionally give you free use of a vehicle to explore the island. We are in one of the most beautiful parts of Hawaii, and I believe in the world. JOB REQUIREMENTS: NO DRUG USE, NON-SMOKER, AND RESPONSIBLE ALCOHAL USE! The applicant must have his or her own health and auto insurance coverage. This is a “Work for Hire” position and does not imply employment. We are seeking a self-motivated, organized, in shape and strong, and very tidy and clean individual, who will work 30+ hours a week to upkeep our estate. We are willing to train in our procedures, but you must have experience and be proficient in the following areas. GENERAL MAINTENANCE: There are occasions where we have projects which include sanding and painting, pressure washing, and tiling. It is also important to have some skills in plumbing and electrical. PROJECTS: We undertake many small and large projects that need to be accomplished in between the general maintenance responsibilities. A fully equipped woodshop is onsite. You must be proficient and competent in using the following: 1. Saws (Miter, Circular, Jig, Band, Table, Scroll, Festool TS 75 plunge cut track saw, Tile saw, and Sawzall) 2. Multitool 3. Tenon and Biscuit Joiners 4. Festool domino 500 & 700 5. Routers 6. Planers 7. Drills and Drill Press 8. Dremel Tool 9. Sanders and Belt Sanders 10. Finish sprayers 11. Rotary laser In addition to the use of the above tools, you would be responsible for the maintenance and light repairs of these tools. We have over 50 different fruit and spice trees and bushes, vegetable and herb gardens, and a ¾ acre botanical garden with rare palms, Heliconia, and Gingers. It is fabulous. We all work hard here, and we believe in quality over quantity.
