QC Tech Civil Construction Field (Hartford)
Helical Drilling, a New England based design build Geotechnical Engineering firm is looking to fill a Quality Control Technician’s role. This role would ensure that the project’s specifications are followed and that Helical Drilling’s work has been installed according to the design. They will work with the Helical Drilling (HDI) field supervisor, HDI office, the general contractor, and the project geotechnical engineer. The individual is responsible for recording accurate field and production information on a daily basis along with recognizing unknown anomalies that can affect the original design parameters. When changes or anomalies do occur, they also need to collaborate with the above mention entities on solutions and/or repairs. A successful QC Tech will ensure a project has been built correctly. Responsibilities and Duties: • Read, understand, and follow the design submittal and specifications as it relates to construction of the project. • Document and transfer to field layout plans as-builts, test pier locations, offsets, newly discovered utilities, etc. • Read and understand the boring logs. • Inform field supervisor of on-site change of conditions. • Review design submittal to verify information is accurate. • Complete accurate and timely Daily Field Reports (DFRs). • Prepare plans for field production and use. • Document and report all anomalies. • Participate in project kick off and closeout calls. • Communicate with the HDI office, GC, and/or Geotechnical engineers as directed by field supervisor. • Keep track of production and assist in sequencing of installing elements. • Introduce and be engaged with the on-site geotechnical consultants. • Calculate volume of materials needed (concrete, cement, grout, sand mix, infield mix, etc.) • Setup and preform load tests. Understand the required criteria for execution and completion of a successful test. • Record and complete all logs (drilling, driving, sheeting, grouting, test piers, installation, etc.) • Review the Quality Control Summary sheet and As- Built information at the end of a project for accuracy before submitting to the office. • Enter and record accurate information into the logs. We are looking to fill a position in our service shop for an Apprentice/Technician helper. We are a small light duty truck dealership looking for a motivated person who wants to learn the automotive technician trade. We can offer flexible hours and pay to the right candidate who wants to learn the basics and more of working on light duty trucks. We specialize in Ford Super Duty and Chevrolet HD trucks, as well as a few other various models of light duty pickups (mostly gas powered). The role would consist of 1 on 1 guidance with an experienced technician, hands on learning and tasks, and access to an unlimited knowledge base to help successfully diagnose and repair these types of vehicles. The right candidate can expect to be taught basic maintenance and repair, knowledge in diagnostics, basic welding and torch skills, alignment skills, engine and transmission diagnostic, general repair skills, as well as some cosmetic repair skills (light duty body work). A full set of tools is not required, but some basic hand tools is a plus. Whether you have personal experience working on your own vehicles and want to learn the trade or are already in the trade at an oil change facility or other independent shop, we would be glad to have a conversation with you about what we do and have to offer. Pay would be dependent on initial experience but can be easily and quickly adjusted as your knowledge and abilities progress.
