SUMMARY: The District Manager is responsible for the overall performance of Wise Sons Restaurants and Farmers Markets. This role will ensure all units are managed to deliver high-quality execution, meeting or exceeding targeted PnL objectives, and with a guest experience that fosters repeat visits. As the leader of Wise Sons brick-and-mortar operations, this person must have the ability to get results through effective leadership that aligns with Wise Sons' values and a commitment to people development. The District Manager must be a high-energy, high-performing, results-driven team member who strives to make Wise Sons a great place to visit and work. The District Manager directly supervises all unit General Managers and Senior General Managers, working closely with the Culinary Manager (supervisor to all unit Kitchen Managers), and collaborating with the COO on operational systems, tools and initiatives. This is a full-time salaried position, with great benefits, joining our corporate team and reporting to the COO. Frequent travel to each Wise Sons location is required. THE DETAILS: Operations: -- Direct supervisor of unit General Managers and Senior General Managers; responsible for management and staffing of all units -- Promotes and enforces safety in the workplace, including timely response to guest or employee incidents -- Identifies improvement areas; plans and implements systems to boost company effectiveness, quality, and consistency -- Manages internal and external service suppliers in partnership with the COO, including facility and equipment repair and maintenance -- Works with the Culinary Manager on vendor management and accountability -- Ensure that unit schedules are posted 3 weeks out and forecasted within budgeted labor targets -- Conducts internal store inspections at least twice per month -- Ensures all units are complying with up-to-date Wise Sons operating materials (recipe books, prep lists, order guides, cleaning/opening/closing checklists, etc.) -- Assists and covers for Senior General Manager(s) during busy periods and time off Financial Management: -- Provides input into annual unit budgets and quarterly updates to the budget -- Provides weekly labor and sales reporting to unit managers -- Oversees unit PnLs; meets or exceeds budgeted targets with a focus on sales, labor productivity, cost of goods sold and unit-level controllable costs -- Works with unit management to execute sale initiatives, control food and labor costs, achieve operating margin goals, uphold service standards, and ensure proper inventory management Leadership Responsibilities: -- Mentor, coach, and inspire employees to deliver exceptional customer experiences and high-quality culinary operations, ensuring a commitment to Wise Sons’ operational policies and procedures -- Work with the Culinary Manager to ensure quality control of food production across each unit -- Spend the majority of time in the units, inspecting what we expect and coaching accordingly -- Plan and lead weekly manager meetings, leveraging cross-functional partners as needed -- Work with HR to maintain practices and programs that attract, retain, and develop the best possible talent in the marketplace -- Monitor individual and team development for organizational performance -- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment with a healthy competitive spirit that ensures the sharing of best practices and a commitment to goal achievement -- Proactively foster company culture and workplace environment -- Conduct quarterly performance check-ins with direct reports; partner with HR on documented performance improvement plans, as needed PERKS WE OFFER YOU: -- 100% paid Employee Medical Care -- Access to Dental, Vision, Commuter Benefits, 401k -- Generous PTO policy and respect for work-life balance -- Cell Phone Reimbursement -- Free Bagels, Pastrami, and much more -- A great opportunity for personal and professional growth WHERE YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: -- You believe in the Wise Sons product and Core Values -- You have 3+ years of prior restaurant experience including multi-unit restaurant management -- Personal characteristics of yours include service-focused, individual accountability, exceptional coaching skills, motivating, results-oriented, organized, prioritization skills, resilient, solutions-oriented, and a high degree of integrity -- You have proven success with change management -- You are excited to help create a warm, welcoming work environment and sustain our company culture -- You are an effective communicator, engaging people in an authentic, caring, and motivating way; Spanish language fluency is a plus -- You are tech-savvy or willing to learn; current platforms used include Paylocity, Olo, Margin Edge, Cut + Dry, Slack, Square POS, GoogleDrive, DoorDash and Uber Eats. -- You are flexible in your schedule and willing to work weekends and holidays -- You hold a Serve-Safe or CA Food Handler Permit or can obtain one -- You have a valid California driver’s license and a vehicle to facilitate regular visits to Wise Sons various locations, including those outside of the San Francisco and Oakland city limits We provide competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base salary range for this role is $90,000-$95,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to performance, level of experience, skills, professional certifications, and specific location.
