First year earning potential: $50,000-$75,000 Long-term earning potential: $70,000-$150,000+ Additional Job Description Additional Job Description DENT WIZARD POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Paint Technician Reports To: Manager, Fixed or Area Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Last Revised: 1/05/2024 As a Paint Technician your essential job functions include: Utilizing specific surface preparation, the latest spray equipment and proven painting techniques, you will inspect, prepare, blend and finish vehicle surfaces. Working at locations that may include automotive dealerships, rental agencies, and auto auctions, you’ll do everything from simple touch-ups to repairing paint damage. Perform the following items (60%) Surface Preparation Inspect surfaces to be painted and assess their condition. Clean and prepare surfaces by sanding, masking, and filling imperfections to ensure an even and smooth foundation for paint. Color Mixing and Matching Mix and match paint colors to the manufacturer’s specifications or customer preferences. Verify color accuracy and consistency before application. Paint Application Use various methods to apply paint, such as spray guns, brushes, or rollers, depending on surface and the type of paint used. Ensure a consistent and even coat, paying close attention to coverage and quality. Quality Control and Service Excellence (20%) Inspect painted surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards, including color accuracy and a smooth finish. Identify and rectify any defects, runs, or imperfections. Monitor and control the drying and curing process to achieve the desired finish and durability. Follow recommended drying times and conditions for different types of paint. Serve as SME Technician for the Division (20%) Maintain records of paint colors used, materials, and work performed. Document any deviation from standard procedures. Follow Safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe work environment. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations. Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently. Toughness and grit to work outside in all kinds of weather. Valid driver’s license and good driving record Physical Job Requirements Standing for extended periods of time Physical stamina to frequently kneel, bend and squat, as well as lift up to 45 pounds. Must be capable of simple and fine motor hand manipulations. Work in ventilated automotive repair shops, refurbishing facilities, or outdoor paint booth facilities.
