Job Summary We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Sommelier to join our fine dining establishment. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of wines and beverages, along with exceptional customer service skills. As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for curating wine selections, providing recommendations to guests, and enhancing their dining experience through expert knowledge of our beverage offerings. Responsibilities Develop and maintain an extensive wine list that complements the menu offerings. Provide personalized wine recommendations based on guest preferences and meal selections. Conduct wine tastings and educate staff on wine pairings and service techniques. Manage inventory of wines, ensuring proper storage and adherence to food safety standards. Collaborate with the culinary team on menu planning to create harmonious pairings. Assist in training staff on wine service, upselling techniques, and customer engagement. Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain records of sales related to beverages. Ensure compliance with all food handling and safety regulations within the establishment. Experience Previous restaurant experience is required, with a focus on fine dining preferred. Familiarity with Aloha POS and Micros POS systems is a plus for efficient order processing. Culinary experience or knowledge of meal preparation enhances understanding of food pairings. Proven sales skills with experience in upselling beverages to enhance guest satisfaction. Background in banquet service or catering is beneficial for large events and gatherings. Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage guests effectively during their dining experience. Experience in food service roles that involve cashiering, food handling, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness is essential.
