The purpose of this role is to manage the reserves collection, perform journey level technical services operations, acquisitions and Interlibrary Loan (ILL), engage and inform employees & students of all library services and programs in general (emphasizing the reserve collection in particular) with a goal of increasing student access to primary and secondary educational material as well as contribute to student retention and success. Responsibilities Include but not limited to: Manage Reserves Collections: -Represent and promote the reserves collection program to departments on campus. -Plan, organize, and coordinate reserves program. -Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse faculty, staff, and students; especially with colleagues who work in the Learning Commons. -Provide information and technical assistance to reserves program participants and library staff regarding content, guidelines, and practices. -Analyze and report program operations and outcomes, monitor and report program activities, and participate in continuous improvement efforts. -Work with Systems Librarian, Technical Services/Manager, and Circulation Services/Manager to inform reserve workflows in the -Library Service Platform. Circulation: -Perform circulation desk procedures such as (but not limited to): checking in and checking out materials, registering patrons, holds, record maintenance, request queues, etc. -Assist patrons with Whatcom Library Collaboration processes. -Assist patrons with questions and refer patrons to appropriate personnel. -Provide training and direction for part-time hourly employees and work study students. -Perform opening and/or closing procedures for the library. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: -High school diploma or equivalent, and three years' experience in the functional operations of a library or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and familiar with a Library Service Platform. -Ability to move (push-pull) full book trucks (estimated at 40 lbs,, occasionally between buildings) and organizing, in a very short period of time, large quantities of books and other instructional material. -Ability to operate a tabletop heat press, scanner, troubleshoot basic office equipment, and assist patrons with proper use of office equipment, e.g., copiers, scanners, printing issues. -Ability to frequently walk through the Learning Commons and climb stairs.
