Utilities One is seeking an experienced and results-driven Power Engineering Consultant to provide expert guidance on the design, development, and modernization of power systems. This consultancy role will support strategic engineering initiatives related to electrical distribution, power generation, and grid optimization, ensuring system reliability, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate brings deep technical acumen, a strategic mindset, and a proven record of delivering high-impact engineering solutions across diverse utility environments. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert oversight and technical input on the design, construction, and maintenance of power infrastructure projects. Advise on the development and implementation of engineering strategies for power generation, transmission, and distribution. Ensure project alignment with federal, state, and local electrical codes and regulations, including NERC, FERC, and IEEE standards. Partner with utility clients, agencies, and stakeholders to design sustainable, resilient, and future-proof power solutions. Support project teams with budget planning, risk assessments, and execution strategies to ensure deliverables meet quality and timeline objectives. Conduct system performance evaluations and recommend enhancements to improve reliability and efficiency. Guide the integration of renewable energy sources and smart grid technologies into existing infrastructure. Utilize modeling and simulation tools to analyze load flows, stability, and system protection strategies. Review and refine safety protocols, promoting industry best practices in electrical engineering. Stay current on emerging technologies and innovations, providing strategic insights for adoption and implementation. Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable. 7+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or advisory role. Strong understanding of power generation, transmission, and distribution principles. Familiarity with regulatory requirements, grid codes, and interconnection standards. Proficiency in power system analysis tools such as ETAP, PSS/E, or PSCAD. Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our newly renovated office in San Francisco’s popular SOMA District.
